AWARDS
The Outstanding Academic Achievement Award is presented to the
student who has achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher in 42 credits or more earned in
programs offered through the Division of Science, Mathematics and Health
Technologies.
A Special Award is presented to the student who has demonstrated
academic excellence in a specific discipline or has performed a special service to
the department.
The Dr. Linda Burns Award is presented to the most outstanding student
in Environmental Science. The award, supported by the N. J. Water Pollution
Control Association, is in memory of one of our distinguished teachers Dr. Linda
Burns, Professor of Chemistry and Environmental Science.
The Renato Romano Award is presented to the student who has the
highest GPA in the Division among all those students receiving the Outstanding
Academic Achievement Awards in the science transfer programs. This award is
presented yearly in tribute to one of our finest students, Mr. Renato Romano,
who died in 1980. It is the only award given by the College to honor the memory
of a student. Ron was an outstanding young man who was dedicated to his
family, his studies and to our College community.
The Jeffrey Hochbaum Memorial Endowed Scholarship was
established in May 2005 in memory of the late Professor Jeffrey Hochbaum.
Professor Hochbaum was a valued member of the Biology Department at
Middlesex County College for 34 years. He was uniquely dedicated to his
students and highly respected by his colleagues. He taught with a level of
dedication that can come only from those who have a true love and passion for
teaching.
