                                           Google Apps

Google Apps is a new technological innovation that is a solution that schools can use to

bring communication and collaboration tools to the entire academic community. Google

manages all the technology details, so teachers can focus time, energy and budgets on teaching

students. Google apps are tools that could enhance learning and provide students with the

necessary tools for achievement. Google apps have evolved and effectively change the academic

atmosphere. Google apps are free and reliable. Google app gives students, teachers and staff the

opportunity to share ideas more quickly and help them to get things done more effectively when

they have access to the same powerful communication and sharing tools. Google Apps Education

Edition lets tech administrators provide email, sharable online calendars, instant messaging tools

and even a dedicated website to faculty, students and staff for free. There's no hardware or

software to install or maintain, since everything is delivered through a standard web browser --

anytime, from anyplace.

There are five types of Google apps that are essential in the educational

environment. The first on is Google mail, also known as gmail. Google mail offers email to your

faculty, students and staff with 2 gigabytes of storage per account, search tools to help them find

information fast, and instant messaging built right into the browser. Google mail will act as a tool

for communication for the entire school. This will limit interruption in the classroom and
decrease distraction inside the classroom. The second app is Google talk, which is a creative

idea. Google talk gives teachers and students the opportunity to call or send instant messages to

their contacts for free -- anytime, anywhere in the world. There are many possibilities for people

collaborating on projects from different locations. This will broaden not only the teacher’s

horizon, but students as well. This will create a lot of interaction from different locations. The

third Google app is Google calendar. This is probably the most effective application. Google

calendar is a tool that gives everyone the opportunity to organize their schedules and share

events, meetings and entire calendars with others. As the principal, you can even publish the

school calendar on the schools’ website to let families know about events like back-to-school

nights, homecoming and vacation days. The third application is Google Doc. Google Doc give

students and teachers the opportunity to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations and

then collaborate with each other in real-time right inside a web browser window. This is vital,

due to the fact it all can happen in a web browser. Instead of copying and pasting or saving

information, you can create everything in the web browser. The last app is Google site. Google

site is effective because educators could create a class site and edit it the same way they edit a

document -- no technical expertise required. The site can bring together all the information

educators want to share with your colleagues and students, including docs, calendars, photos,

videos and attachments.

Google has discovered new ideas and methods that could govern a great educational

setting. Google apps are essential not only outside the classroom, but inside the classroom as

well. Google apps are very beneficial, easy, and free. Google apps will be the next technological

innovation that will be seen throughout many educational environments.
