Port O' Call reggae singer accused of rape in Kill Devil Hills

The reggae singer known as Eek-A-Mouse was charged with rape and kidnapping after a 23-year-old woman reported she was held against her will at an Outer Banks motel. The musician, whose real name is Ripton Joseph Hylton, performed at the Port O’ Call Restaurant & Gaslight Saloon in Kill Devil Hills on Saturday night, the past weekend. Police say that afterwards, Hylton, 50, from Los Angeles, went to the Colony IV Motel where the woman said the rape occurred. He was charged with first-degree kidnapping, second-degree rape and possession of cocaine, all felonies, and also possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana, a misdemeanor. Hylton was later released on $52,000 secured bond pending trial in Superior Court at a date to be set. ~
