Chapter Pride

Every month, at our general chapter meeting, we draw a Chapter Members Name to win the Chapter

Pride prize. To win, you must be wearing the chapter colors of a red shirt and black pants or blue jeans.

Also, a name pin or name printed on your shirt.

To encourage more guests to join us, we have added a “GUEST” name to the bag. If it is drawn, the guest

must have on their chapter colors and name as well. The first guest to sign the guest book for that meeting

will be named to win the prize.

The size of the prize will increase by $10 each month that no one claims it and will

start over at $10 when someone claims it or when it reaches $100.00.

MAY was for $20.00 and Patty Meagher won!

JUNE was back to $10.00 and Ed Klemisch won!

We had no meeting in JULY because of the STP . . . .So,

the amount for AUGUST goes back to $10.00.

BE THERE AND WEAR THOSE CHAPTER COLORS!

Melanie Makes The Dance Team

Melanie will be going to Meeker Middle School next year and really

wanted to try out for their dance team. So for an entire week she went to

their practice and on Friday May 1st tried out for the 2009/2010 team.

Her eyes were about the size of saucers when she saw her name on the

list and almost bowled me over when she jumped up into my arms. She

was so excited she made both of us get teary eyed! Some of their

activities throughout the school year include performing during half time

at a Seattle Storm basketball game, competitions with other local schools

dance teams, assemblies, sporting events and the school spirit events.

She is going to be one busy kid next year! This also means mom might

be a little busier as they require a great deal of parent involvement to help support the team.

I am very proud of her for all the hard work this past week. Margie

KRAINS CORNER DINNER

On Saturday June 27th about 10 Chapter A members went to dinner at Krains Corner

Restaurant near Enumclaw. The restaurant is in an old house that has been added on to and

has lots of old stuff in it. As they were having a hard time with the Green River Gorge

Bridge being closed for so long, the bridge just opened up again Friday few days earlier

then expected, so it was decided to try and go and leave a few bucks with them, it is good

food also, it was a very nice evening and so good to see Paul and Becky out with us, they

were at the garage sale also "A" had , he is coming along and that is good news. we went

Sunday we went to Chapter V's root bear float fundraiser, in talking to them it seemed to be

doing well , was a nice warm day for it so that helped. We really do need to do more dinner

outings as all seemed to enjoy them. Loretta

WASHINGTON STATE RALLY

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS

The State Rally was held in Sunny Hot [90 to 100 degrees] Ritzville, WA over

the 4th of July, 2009. 13 Chapter "A" members attended, setting up camp in no

shade, but thank goodness for the canopy's and shade on other side of a building

as there was no wind just hot days. Things were kind of spread out, some things

held in the gym, some in high school others in another school, just had to walk

different places to them and in the heat. A and V did the Dirty Bingo on Friday and

that was well attended and all seemed to have had fun. Grazing on Friday. had to

be held in the gym due to hot weather. Saturday, after drill team preformed, " A "

started setting up for Bike Games which was next to the park and shade so it was

cooler there. 10 Bikes participated and only one person bit the 'wiener' off! 1st Place

winner was , 2nd place was ,3rd place was , and Dot Lily won the random drawling.

Thanks to Chapter V for their help.

The Light Parade had 93 bikes so there was quite a nice show of American

Flags and Support the Troops stuff, (Chapter V had a really nice Support the Troops

float). The town folk came out to watch. They said, “Chapter "A" had wonderful

seats to watch "V" decorate their bikes”.

In keeping with the theme they collected small items to send to the troops. It

seems they did quite well and had a lot of companies paying for shipping to get

them there so that was great. They also had 2 young Army men on site all week-

end. One was shipping out in a week and the other one soon. They seemed ready

to go wherever they are sent.

At closing when plaque's were given out Melanie got one for youngest

passenger. Chapter "V" won largest chapter and Don and Carol Sims are staying on

as State Directors one more year. Missed those of you who could not make it this

year also. That is about it . Loretta

Continued from page 1 . . . . .

Thanks so much for the Chapter A members that made it to the State Gathering in Ritzville and put

on the Bike Games for everyone over there. I heard it was really hot. I also heard that our state directors,

Don and Carol Sims, did not step down but will be doing a state gathering at Ritzville again in 2010.

Hopefully, Paul and I will be riding again by then. Also, a BIG THANK YOU goes out to Chapter V for

helping out with the games.

Thanks again to those of you that worked the STP on the weekend of the 11th and 12th. I may even

have a couple photos of that function also. Sorry, I guess not! Thanks anyway.

Paul and I are still vanning up to the U of W for his rehabilitation twice a week. They stand him up

each PT session and also work his arms and shoulders. What is holding him back now is getting the

strength to hold himself up. He is very weak from his first couple of months in the other hospitals when he

wasn’t moving much. It is slowly coming back though. He still feeds himself, brushes his teeth, he has tried

shaving with a safety razor (usually I use an electric on him though) can get water for himself from the

refrigerator door, and get himself out of the house in an emergency if he is in his chair. He has a great

sense of humor and has learned how to get a hold of the TV remote control and surf the stations.

Last Saturday, we loaded up the van and drove down to Woodland to the Raybell Inn for dinner.

What a great escape for us and a lot of Chapter A members that went down to camp and RV. Thanks to

Bill and Suzi Raybell for the wonderful time and hospitality they showed us and all the great eats. It was

like visiting a five star resort. I look forward to Paul walking and being able to go visit again. A beautiful

place, a great view, and wonderful stories from everybody.

My printer just died so this will be later than I had hoped. Paul and I went to Staples for a new printer

on Wed. in that heat. Whew! Nasty. It took until Friday for me to get it hooked up, but as you can see, it

does a pretty good job.

Did I mention that we had a flat tire on our way to the UW last week. Well, we got through that and

were only 10 minutes late. That’s all for now, ride safe and enjoy the summer. Becky
