SECOND ANNUAL “ATHLETIC PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT”
Riverside High School Athletic Department will hold their 2nd Annual Parent Athletic Information Night in the RHS Cafeteria on July 28th at 6:30 pm. All incoming ninth graders along with their parents and all returning athletes and their parents must attend this session. Information from the NCHSAA on eligibility requirements and Durham Public School residency requirements will be discussed. The RHS Coaching staff will be available to answer any questions pertaining to their sport. Athletic Passes for the 2009-2010 season will be available for sale at the conclusion of the information session. Parents are asked to pick up a DPS Residency form to sign and have witnessed. Please return the form to your child’s coach when they tryout or return them to the schools’ athletic director, Margratha Chambers.

FALL SPORTS TRY- OUT DATES
The fall sports tryouts officially begin on August 1, 2009. You must have a completed physical form to turn in to your coach when you try-out for a particular team. All physicals are good from the actual date for 365 days. Please contact the athletic office at 560-3965, ext. 65524 if you are not sure when your child’s team tryouts begins, or where to report on the day of try-outs.
ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY
This newsletter is designed to give the student athlete and his or her parents some information concerning athletics here at Riverside High School. Eligibility And Attendance All potential athletes must pass three out of four classes from the previous semester in order to participate in athletics. A student cannot miss more than 13 days of school in order to be eligible to compete. All incoming ninth graders are eligible to tryout at the beginning of their first semester in high school. Physicals A student must have a completed physical form on file with the athletic trainer in order to tryout for an athletic team. Physical forms may be obtained in the school’s front office or you can download a copy from the Riverside High School website: www.riverside.dpsnc.net

The Riverside High School Booster Club desperately needs you help and support. The Booster Club meets the first Monday of every month at 6:30 pm in the health classroom. At the first meeting in August there will be the election of new officers for the coming year. Parents are encouraged to join. Booster Club membership forms will be available at the Parent Information Night, Freshmen Orientation and at the RHS Open House. During the home athletic events, help is needed with the concession stand. If interested please contact the athletic office.

Congratulations to the following teams for winning the Pac-6 Conference Championship in their respective sport: Baseball, Wrestling, Men’s Basketball and Golf.
