• ACI and ICAO
The ICAO Asia and Pacific Office is celebrating its 60th anniversary
this year and a seminar on the theme “Socio-Economic Dynamics of
Civil Aviation” was held at the ICAO Bangkok office in July 2009. The
Regional Director, Maggie Kwok has contributed an article to the
ICAO Regional Report to congratulate the council on this event. Mrs.
Kwok shared her view on the subject “What’s next for Asia-Pacific” in
the article and emphasized the importance of ACI to continue to work
closely with the ICAO Council in order to cope with the challenges
faced by the aviation industry.
Manager, Committees and Marketing SL Wong and Executive
Assistant, Michael Chung, secondee from Incheon International
Airport Corporation attended the seminar on behalf of the Regional
Office and presented a momento to the ICAO Council.
ACI has been actively engaged in discussions with ICAO as observer
in ICAO meetings. We have been working very closely with the
council so that the views of our member airports can be considered
and incorporated in the development of international standards and
recommended practices.
More information about ACI activities at ICAO can be found on ACI
website www.aci.aero or please contact Ms. Georgina Graham, our
new Director at ICAO Bureau at ggraham@aci.aero.
• Invitation to participate in ACI Surveys
ACI conducts regular and ad-hoc surveys based on which useful
information is provided to its members and other industry partners to
help improve airport safety. Members are now invited to participate
in the following two surveys:
• ACI Apron Safety Survey
• ACI Survey on Aircraft Tyre Pressure Damage
The first survey is an annual exercise that collects important statistics
on apron incidents and accidents such as damages to aircraft and
airport facilities, and injuries to personnel and passengers. The
survey reports of the previous years can be purchased online here.
The second survey is a one-off study aimed at determining if
increases in aircraft tyre pressures in the past decade are having
deleterious effects on airport pavements. The results will be shared
with aircraft manufacturers and ICAO as reference for aircraft design
and review of tyre pressure limits. For more information on the
background of the survey, please click here
All responses to the two surveys will be kept confidential and de-
identified, i.e. no airport names will be mentioned in the final report.
Please support the surveys so that ACI can produce more useful
information to its members!
For more information, please contact SL Wong, Manager,
Committees & Marketing at sl@aci-asiapac.aero or +852 2989 8001.

dropped by nearly 4 percent and aircraft
movements were down by 2%.
All official representatives of ACI members should have received a
