International Hospitality and Tourism Research Conference Switzerland
24-26 November 2010
This major international Conference is organised by the International Hospitality Research Centre
Switzerland (http://www.ihrcs.ch/) which is located at the Hotel and Management Institute
Switzerland (http://www.htmi.ch/) in the beautiful village of Sorenberg, in the foothills of the
Swiss Alps.
Introduction
According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (2010), the hospitality, tourism and events
management industries employ more than 220 million people and generate more than 9.4% of
world GDP. Nevertheless, against this background, international tourist arrivals contracted
worldwide by 5.6% and in Europe by 8% during 2009. The challenges facing the future of
hospitality, tourism and events management are real and must be urgently addressed. This
major international research conference will provide a platform for exploring the contemporary
issues facing the hospitality, tourism and events management industries.
