Promotion CV Guardian Jobs CV Template

CV TITLE & FILE NAME

Use your first and family names, not a job title. Place the title at the top of every CV

page. Your CV should not exceed two pages. Use email friendly fonts like Ariel and

Times New Roman.

CONTACT DETAILS

List these in the footer of the page, include your email address & mobile number,

also a link to your website if you have one if it is career or work related. Don’t use a

jokey email or Facebook/Twitter page that could make you look unreliable or

unprofessional.

PROFILE

This is a 30 to 40 word statement describing your area of expertise and also what

you are like to work with, please see example in italics below:

Profile

An established marketer within the charity sector I have amassed brand

management and direct marketing, and digital marketing experience. An eye for the

detail and also the bigger picture help me reduce costs and increase return on

investment. I work equally well alone or as part of team, having managed teams of

up to six individuals.

WORK HISTORY

List a maximum of three work histories here, starting with your most recent and

ending with your oldest one. If you have progressed with the same employer it’s fine

to make up the three histories in different roles. See the work history example below

in italics:

Work history

Company name – Start date: Month YYYY End date: Month YYYY

Position, role or job title eg: Senior Marketing Executive

Whilst working as a senior marketing executive with company X I introduced an e-

CRM process that triggered Welcome emails to new registrants. The emails

contained dynamic content including in-house banners that prompted recipients to

complete an action eg down load a campaign pack. The emails delivered an uplift in

donations of 3% in the first quarter, and helped to build a loyal audience.

QUALIFICATIONS

If you have three work histories or more just list your highest qualification here and

any relevant courses that you’ve attended. Recent qualifications should be listed first,

in most cases the degree or A/S Levels are listed last. If you are a first or second

jobber graduate list your degree with more information; including any project or

dissertation work relevant to the promotion/job that you are applying for. See

example in italics below:

Qualifications recently completed courses

Academic institution/Awarding body name – Course name -

Start date: dd/mm/yy End date: dd/mm/yy

Skill/qualification obtained – level achieved

University name – Start date: dd/mm/yy End date: dd/mm/yy

Degree name – Subject – Grade awarded

Detail project completed or dissertation description if you are light on work history.

AWARDS AND MEMBERSHIP OF PROFESSIONAL BODIES

Focus on awards & membership of professional or trade bodies that will support your

job or promotion application.

INTERESTS

If you are a little light on work history here, or in the ‘Awards & membership’ section;

list interests that relate to the job or promotion that you are applying for (where

possible). Also identify appropriate work skills using 30-40 words maximum. If you

have ample work history simply list interests under a heading of ‘Interests’ here.

Remember put your contact details at the bottom of each page of your CV.
