Dear All

Summer is nearly here (you can tell from the rain!)

In the absence of a Head of Colts I’m still holding the fort but would appreciate help if
anyone can. As you can see below, we are trying to bring in as much professional
assistance as we can (which will help to secure the long term future of the club).


Coaching Dates and Organisation
These will be on Fridays for everyone from 7th May until 16th July inclusive (including half
term).

Years 9-11 will be coached by myself and Roy Ridgway. All other years will be managed by
the Darren Talbot Cricket Coaching Academy who will provide 7 coaches (in addition to our
Overseas Player plus other regular coaches).

We will require some additional parents, particularly in younger groups. Please just volunteer
on the night (no experience needed).

As usual the bar will be open from 6.15 till 9.30 and we intend to run BBQs most weeks –
weather permitting - (with live music at some of these).

2010 Membership Applications and Fees
We now invite applications for Year 2 children upwards (sorry, no reception or year 1s).

We will limit year group sizes to 20 in Year2/3 and 30 in older years.
Application priority is - Existing Players and Helpers, Existing Members, Siblings, Last
years waiting list then New Applicants (first come first served).

Please get applications in by 30th April at the latest (or place may be lost). For those that
haven’t already completed an application form this year, please complete the attached form
and send with a cheque to

Fees will be held again to £60 for a family with one colt & £70 for a family with more than
one colt. The majority of those families doing winter nets will have already paid this fee.
New Nets
The club will have 2 new artificial net surfaces from the end of March. These will be in the
vicinity of the current grass nets behind the pavilion. We received a grant from Mole Valley
Country Council – Local Committee which made this possible.


Umpiring Course/Scoring Courses
There is a free umpiring course at Pixham Lane on 20th April. Please just come down to the
club at 7.30 pm – no need to book. This is extremely handy for any would be parent
umpires.

There is a free scoring course at Pixham Lane on 4th May. Please just come down to the
club at 7.30 pm – again no need to book.

Cricket Shirts and Kit
We will hold a second hand kit sale on 7th May during the first coaching session. Please
bring any spare kit down to sell.

New kit (including shirts) is now on sale on line at Romida. www.romida.co.uk . Click on the
Romida Teamware picture bottom right. Then select CLUBZONE, Clubs, Dorking Cricket
Club.... Junior club shirts are £12.

New players, there is no need to buy kit (we have plenty) but a white shirt looks the part.

Overseas Player & Extra Coaching
We have signed up a New Zealand Leg-Spinner/Batsman this year. Matthew Sadd aged 22
of Wellington. You’ll know who he is as he’s 6ft 6in tall! Please make him welcome. He
arrives between 6th and the 8th April.

Richard Brooker (info@unmarkedcars.co.uk) has agreed to act as intermediary in setting up
any additional coaching for anyone who wants it.

Sadly there is no U16 league in either mid or central Surrey (or even an U17 friendly league)
and we don’t have the numbers for an U14 team.

Main Rules:
U15 retire at 50, 20 overs (full sized hard ball)

U12, U13 retire at 30, 20 overs (4.75 oz ball)

U10, U11 pairs cricket, 10 a side, 20 overs (4.75 oz ball)

U9 pairs cricket, 8 a side, 16 overs (incrediball)
