Research Project
Description of Assignment:
When thinking about Science, most of us picture an old man doing
experiments with colorful liquids, wearing a pristine white lab coat, all alone
in a small laboratory.
But in reality, Science is all around us every day: from the way we
conserve energy, to finding cures for diseases and the common cold. There
are even scientific tests to see if people like the newest potato chip or flavor
of soda. Even Britney Spears employs scientists to formulate the perfect
scent for her new fragrances.
All of these jobs in Science and the technology we use to do them are
often overlooked.
Your assignment is to research either a specific job in a Science or a
new piece of technology that is related to the field of Science.
Crime scene investigators, brand new forensic testing equipment,
ground breaking research technology in the lab or out in the field, or any
other great new jobs or technologies in Science you can think of could all be
great topics for your project! Be creative, and dig deep to find the most
unusual and interesting job or piece of technology.
Once you have completed your research, you are going to create a
power point presentation and research paper all about your findings!

Slide listing your resources
What to research (Scientific Job):
Slide 1: Description of job; what do you do at work?
Slide 2: Job requirements; what is expected of you as a Scientist?
Slide 3: Educational Requirements; what schools will prepare your for
this career? How long will you have to go school to be qualified?
What kind of degree/certification do you need?
Slide 4: Why did you select this career? What interested you about
this career?
What to research (Scientific Technology):
Slide 1: Description of technology; what does it look like? What does
it do?
Slide 2: When was it created? Who created it?
Slide 3: Did it replace old technology; why is it better? OR What new
problem did is solve?
Slide 4: Why did you select this technology? What interested you
about it?
Essay

o Conclusion (you may want to include information about why
