Laundry

 Change children’s sheets (once a week, unless wet)

 Every day:

o Split white and coloured clothes

o Put clothes in machine first, add 1 capful of liquid, then set to go

o Hang out on line, under carport, or in laundry (if very rainy). End

of day – put through drier to air, or put on clothes rack inside if

still wet. Ben – don’t put his work clothes in with anything else –

leave in the basket in laundry – when enough for a load, do

separately. Penny - pink & white dress she loves - need to hand

wash.

o Fold and put piles in rooms. Put children’s clothes away in

drawers & wardrobe.

o Ironing – spend up to an hour on this each week (trade-off for

not having to vacuum)

Toileting

 Take Penny to toilet. Ask often, but also take charge if needed. Always

take to toilet before going out to bed for a sleep. Knickers – use for

afternoon sleep & nappies at night.

 John – nappies. Check often (5x a day). Use wipes, and make sure

bottom is dry. Use zinc cream after changing nappy. Keep eye out for

rashes – let me know. Keep portable nappy mat fully stocked (spares in

wardrobe in John’s room above clothes)

Bathing

 Both together after dinner. Never leave unattended – not even for 5

seconds. Wash hair every couple of days or so (unless it needs it more

often). John needs eczema creams after bath.

Housework

 Keep floors in living room and kitchen cleans and dry

 Dishwasher – fill and empty after breakfast, and again after the

children’s tea

 Surfaces in kitchen – spray & wipe every day

 Toilet & bathroom – clean basins (2x downstairs) every second day. Dry

floor after baths. Clean downstairs toilet on Friday.

 Tidy up messes – all toys tidied away before dinner.

 Wash toys (plastic and soft) every now and then

 Tidy children’s rooms (books, toys & clothes) every day

Approx schedule

 Breakfast

 Dishwasher empty, repack & put on

 Toilet & dress children

 Laundry on (including sheets once a week)

 Tidy kitchen

 Pack bag to go out – nappies, wipes, drink, snacks, spare clothes, hats,

money, keys, bus or cable-car ticket

 Laundry on line

 Out for morning / John sleep (he will sleep in buggy if out) / play at home

 Lunch

 Penny sleep (John may have another, if not much in morning). Make

sure Penny in bed by 1.30 at the latest. If John up – play / read / let him

play while you do dinner prep or housework

 3.30 – wake Penny up if she hasn’t woken. John may have nap – if he

seems tired, put him down.

 Play / read. TV – only if everything is ‘going to pieces’ and you don’t

have dinner prepared.

 Tidy up

 Dinner 4.30 / 5

 Bath – into pyjamas & brush teeth

Don’t

 Have TV on. OK to watch video/DVD for half an hour max, late

afternoon, while you’re cooking dinner. Not every day. Radio / music is

great.

 Txt or talk on mobile phone while you’re working. Do keep phone on –

for me to call you (especially if you’re out)

 Leave children in bath unattended

 Leave the house in a mess at the end of the day

 Swear, or use slang – Penny is copying everything we say

 Smack – use positives – following what college teaches

 Keep anything a secret from us – tell us everything. We don’t expect you

to be perfect – accident happens, and we want to know.

 Leave small things lying around – John will eat them

 Let John in the toilet or computer room – keep the door shut to

computers. Toilet door needs to be open for Penny – but watch John.
