Open Day Programme

22nd February 2012



11.30-1.00pm - Welcome and Course Information Presentation & Tours of the Campus Elmfield

Lecture Theatre One (map ref. 31)



There will be a short welcome from the Head of Department, Professor Simon Bulmer. The

Presentation will be with Dr Steve Ludlam, Director of Undergraduate Admissions. This will be

followed by tours of the campus. You are welcome to participate in the tours, which includes a tour

of the Student’s Union and the Information Commons. If you would like an opportunity to visit the

Goodwin Sports Centre, please mention this to your guide and they will show you on the way to the

Politics Department. There will be an opportunity for you to buy some refreshments in the

Students Union.



After the tours have finished, please make your way back to the Politics Department (map ref. 31)



1.20pm – Applicants Only – Accommodation Talk & Tour



Arrive at the Politics Department Foyer for a short coach journey to the Student Residences for a

talk on Student Accommodation followed by a tour of a Student Residence, then return to the

Politics Department by coach.



1.30pm – Guests of Applicants – Presentation with Question and Answer Session – Lecture

Theatre One



A talk on the Department, Student Accommodation and question and answer session with Dr

Steve Ludlam and a current undergraduate student.



3.00pm – Applicants & Guests – Refreshments – Room G19



Refreshments and an opportunity to meet members of academic staff and current undergraduate

students



3.30pm - Talks with Students – Lecture Theatre One



Single Politics, International Relations and Politics and International Politics and Security Studies

applicants to have a talk with current undergraduate students in Elmfield Lecture Theatre One



3.30pm – Dual Degree Applicant Talks



With a representative of the Dual Department and current undergraduate students as follows:



Politics and Philosophy – Room G20 Politics and Sociology – Room 215



4.00pm (Optional) - Study Abroad Programme Presentation – Lecture Theatre One

Talk with a Student Exchange Ambassador giving applicants an opportunity to ask any questions

about the University’s Study Abroad Programme.



Please note that all visitors are free to leave before the end of the programme if necessary for

travelling.
