Results of the asphalt plant

rezoning…

Congratulations!

Justin Faz is the newly Warren County Commissioners denied

the rezoning petition submitted by

elected board member to the

Miami View Mining to build an asphalt

Stone Brook HOA. He will plant on the banks of the Little Miami

serve a three year term, River, not far from Stone Brook (as the

crow flies).

which commenced in

February 2005. Thank you to all the residents of Stone

Brook who signed petitions, and those

who volunteered their time to stop the

asphalt plant being built in our

community.

Kitchen Corner

Fresh Strawberry Pie

Ingredients:

5 cups strawberries

1/3 cup lemon juice

½ cup sugar

2 tbsp. cornstarch

1 envelope gelatin (Knox)

¾ cup low-fat vanilla yogurt

½ cup whipping cream

½ cup tsp. vanilla

1 baked 9” pastry shell or graham cracker crust

• Rinse strawberries and drain on towels; hull fruit. Thickly slice 3

cups of the prettiest berries and set aside. Reserve 1 whole berry for

garnish. In a blender or food processor, whirl remaining berries with

lemon juice until pureed.

• In a 2 quart saucepan, mix sugar, cornstarch, gelatin, and pureed

berries. Cook, stirring often, over medium heat until mixture comes

to a full boil, about 6 minutes. Stir in yogurt; chill until slightly

thickened, about 1 hour.

• Meanwhile, with an electric mixer, beat cream and vanilla until soft

peaks form. Gently fold cream and sliced berries into cool berry

mixture. Pour into pastry shell or graham crust; chill until firm, at

least 3 hours or until next day.

• Serves 8.

Keep Our Children

Safe

Sexual Predators and

• Public awareness regarding sexual predators and offenders is running

high since the recent abduction of Jessica Lunsford in Florida. Since the

Offenders

school year is coming to a close and our children will be playing outside,

swimming at our neighborhood pool and staying home alone while their

parents work, it is important that we are aware of these criminals who

prey on children.

• The Warren County Sheriff recently notified the homeowners’ of a

neighboring community (Vista Point) that a sexual predator had

registered his home address on a street adjacent to their community.

• Check out this website (http://www.esorn.ag.state.oh.us/Secured/p1.aspx)

so you are aware of where the sexual predators and offenders live and

work in our community.

• Check out this website to determine if your child has mastered safety

skills granting them privileges and responsibilities.

Tips to Follow:

1. Teach your children to never talk to strangers, or to get into a car with

someone they do not know.

2. Teach your child to scream. “This is not my mother” or “This is not my

father”, if someone tries to take them away.

3. Your child should be able to recognize department store employees in

case they get lost. Teach them to go directly to them or have them locate a

mom with children to help.

4. Teach your kids to “Stop, Drop, & Roll” for fire emergencies.

5. Create a secret password that only you and your child knows.

6. Teach them to never open the door to strangers when home alone.

7. Explain to them that you must always know exactly where they are.

8. If they see a gun, teach them not to touch it, then to call an adult.

Community Volunteers Needed

Often, short little projects arise, which would enhance the community and save the

Association some money. Projects like planting, cleanup, distributing flyers, etc. are all

great opportunities to show your support of Stone Brook and to meet more neighbors.

These activities are also great for your school age students that may need community

service credits. If you have students who need community service time, please contact

Debbie Clark at 494-2236 or email Dac1054@aol.com.
