Cut the Fabrics From white print, cut: • 8—278" squares, cutting each in half ⁄ diagonally for 16 triangles total • 4—21⁄2" squares From each assorted pink print, cut: • 2—278" squares, cutting each in half ⁄ diagonally for 4 triangles total • 1—41⁄2" square
Assemble Block 1. Join one light pink print triangle and one pink print triangle to make a trianglesquare. Press seam toward pink triangle. The triangle-square should be 31⁄2" square, including seam allowances. Repeat to make 16 triangle-squares total. 2. Lay out triangle-squares in rows (Block Diagram). Sew together triangle-squares in each row. Press seams in one direction, alternating direction with each row. Join rows to make a block. Press seams in one direction.
Bear Tracks
Assemble Block 1. Join one white print triangle and one pink print triangle to make a pink triangle-square. Press seam toward pink triangle. The triangle-square should be 21⁄2" square, including seam allowances. Repeat to make four matching pink trianglesquares. 2. Lay out four pink triangle-squares, a white print 21⁄2" square, and a matching pink print 41⁄2" square in sections (Block Diagram). Sew together pieces in each section. Join sections to make a Bear’s Paw unit. Press all seams in one direction. The unit should be 61⁄2" square, including seam allowances.
King’s Crown
(Finished block: 8" square) Cut the Fabrics From dark pink print, cut: • 4—21⁄2" squares • 1—51⁄4" square, cutting it diagonally twice in an X for 4 large triangles total From pink print, cut: • 1—41⁄2" square • 4—278" squares, cutting each in half ⁄ diagonally for 8 small triangles total Assemble Block 1. Sew two pink print small triangles to short sides of a dark pink print large triangle to make a Flying Geese unit. Press seams toward pink triangles. The Flying Geese unit should be 21⁄2×41⁄2", including seam allowances. Repeat to make four Flying Geese units total. 2. Sew Flying Geese units to opposite edges of the pink print square (Block Diagram). Press seams toward Flying Geese units. Join a dark pink print 21⁄2" square to each end of remaining Flying Geese units to make a strip. Press seams toward dark pink print squares. Join two strips to the remaining edges of the dark pink print square to make a block. Press seams to one side.
Windblown
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to make four Bear’s Paw units total, one of each print. 4. Sew together Bear’s Paw units in pairs (Block Diagram). Press seams in opposite directions. Join pairs to make a block. Press seam in one direction.
