Modern Day Almanac
After reading Benjamin Franklin’s Almanac, create your own Almanac for your group. You will have today in
class to work on the assignment. You will need to figure out a plan for each group member’s homework for
tonight. You will have ½ of tomorrow’s class period to create and organize your Almanac before you present
it. Use your time wisely. This is a project grade!
Your Almanac must be neat in appearance and have specific, creative details. As always, all items must be
school appropriate .
Your Almanac must include the following elements:
10 Aphorisms/proverbs (short sayings or life quotes)
Weather Section: 7 Current Days (high/low temps, precipitation) and predictions (high temp,
snow/rain?) for the spring months’ weather (Feb., March, April, and May).
Gardening Section: Planting Advice (5 Tips for best time and place for certain crops)
Food: A favorite family recipe from each group member
Astronomy: 5 interesting “night sky” events (meteor showers, eclipses, etc.) for the spring semester.
Best Days: Based on the moon and the stars, what will be the 10 “best” days for love, work, sports,
etc. What will be the 10 worst days?
Natural Cures: Provide 5 natural remedies for your readers (herb cures for the common cold,
headaches, toothache, etc.)
