Seidman IPO 2008-2009 EBoard Nominees

President

Rodney Moore

Major: Finance

Year: Junior

Semesters in IPO: 6

I feel I am qualified for this position as I’ve had a lot of experience with IPO over the last 3 years. My

past positions in IPO include VP of information technology, Treasurer, and I am currently a Portfolio

Manager. Over the years I have been actively involved with Junior Achievement, Relay for Life, and all

club trips. I posses strong leadership and communication skills that will help lead the club in a good

direction. I am well educated in finance and have a strong background in investing. I enjoy sharing my

investing knowledge and experience with others to help increase ones understanding of the stock

market. My ultimate goals for the club next year are to actively get members to be more involved with

investing and IPO, increase IPO’s membership, continue to grow recognition of IPO, bring in new

speakers to the club, and lastly but most importantly have a good time.

Brian Bakker

Major: Finance & Economics major/Accounting minor

Year: Sophomore

Semesters in IPO: 4 Semesters in IPO

Hey all,

I will be running for President or Vice President of Portfolio Management. For either spot, I believe I

possess the analytical skills and fundamental knowledge to provide value to the group and portfolio. My

goals are simple, to achieve regular attendance of 50 members and through group interaction, give each

member confidence enough to begin investing. Whether through bonds, stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, or

your pick of more aggressive instrument, it essential we, as individuals, start investing sooner rather than

later. Overall, I hope to not lose over 70% of our portfolio's value due to mismanagement! Which,

thanks to overweight positions in Enron and Worldcom happened from 2000 to 2002. At any rate, I'll be

sure to go into more detail on the third.

Vice President of Portfolio Management

Brian Bakker (see president section)

Rodney Moore (see president section)

Vice President of Operations

Nathan Biller

Stephen Hopkins

Major: Finance

Year: Junior

Number of semesters in IPO: 4 Semesters

Last year I was elected to the E-board as the secretary. I believe I am a good candidate to continue my

position as secretary since I have been dedicated and able to complete my duties. I am very organized,

quick, and enjoy the duties that I am responsible for. Something I would like to see change next year is

to get myself more involved with the Vice President of Operations. I believe that by assisting this officer

we would be able to accomplish more projects and items could be accomplished in a timely manner.

Another thing I would like to see is getting the members more educated about finance and investing.

Over this past year I have seen a major enhancement in teaching our members some fundamental facts

and information about finance. I was once a young member who didn’t know the first thing they would

talk about when giving presentations. So, by teaching members more about investing we would be

contributing to their education here at Grand Valley. I have been involved with IPO since I started

attending Grand Valley and it has shown great benefits to my education and social life. I believe I am a

great asset to this organization and I want to help continue to see it grow and be a successful

organization.

Max Frantz

Major:Finance

Year: Junior

Semesters in IPO: 2

My name is Max Frantz and I am a junior majoring in Finance. I have spent two semesters with

IPO now. More recently I have become involved with the board and working with portfolio

management. I believe I will make an excellent Portfolio Manager next year for several reasons. I have

spent nearly the past eight months interning at a very large financial services company where I worked

closely with Financial Advisors in managing their client’s wealth and investments. I invest and trade

with my own money from time to time as well. I am competent in my finance and investing knowledge

but am still learning something new everyday. I read and educate myself a great deal outside of IPO and

class which has helped me stay constantly up to date with the market and financial news. I have never

missed a meeting or an IPO social event and plan to continue that legacy through next year.

I seek this position not just because of my passion for the stock market and managing/analyzing

securities. I wish to also be elected for the purpose of being an active E-board member to further

encourage group participation and help new individuals understand financial markets and analysis. I

believe the two semesters I have spent with IPO has been adequate in developing good relationships

with several members as well as a solid understanding of how the organization is maintained and

managed. I hope to provide members of IPO next year with the same rewarding experiences that I have

taken away from this year’s group and board members. I care a great deal about the future wellbeing and

growth of the organizations portfolio as well as its members too.

Secretary

Stephen Hopkins (see V.P. of Operations section)

Kristi Hall

Current Status: Junior majoring in Finance and Economics

Dean’s List for six consecutive semesters

Involved with IPO since Winter of 2007

Current VP of Marketing

Attended RISE VII and VIII

The qualifications that I bring to fill the position of Secretary are first and foremost my organizational

skills and desire to be an integral part of IPO. I am highly dedicated to the group and willing to put forth

time and effort to allow the administrative side of IPO run smoothly and efficiently. I have been

involved in various organizations both in high school and in the college setting and I believe the

leadership and people skills I have will allow to me to excel in this position. I am excited to see what

IPO can accomplish in the years to come and I am willing and able to be part of the catalyst for those

future undertakings.

Treasurer

Kyle Rhodes

Major: Finance

Year Junior

Semesters in IPO 4

Last year when I was elected as Treasurer for Seidman IPO, I was brought into this position not

knowing what to expect or what was expected of my self. Throughout the course of the year working

closely with Dan and Todd I have learned the skills needed to be reliable and helpful in anyway possible

not just as treasurer, but in any aspect of the organization. If I am re-elected as Treasurer I will be able to

bring with me the expectations, and skills that I have acquired over this past year. This will ensure that

all of my tasks will be handled properly, making for an easier and less stressful year as IPO moves into

the new school year.

Marketing Director

Kristi Hall

Current Status: Junior majoring in Finance and Economics

Dean’s List for six consecutive semesters

Involved with IPO since Winter of 2007

Current VP of Marketing

Attended RISE VII and VIII

I believe that I will be an asset to Seidman IPO in the position of VP of Marketing for multiple reasons.

First and foremost, I am highly qualified for the position because of the various events that I have

organized, publicized and raised funds for as President of both my high school’s National Honor Society

and Student Council. Beyond that I am very plugged in to the Seidman School of Business due to my

job as a student aide in the Finance Department, a role I will continue to fulfill next year, as well as

being a dual finance and economics major. I also attend the events hosted by other Seidman groups, as

well as other student organizations both downtown and in Allendale. My people skills, and my ability to

relate to a wide variety of students, faculty and business professionals, my organizational skills, and

overall excitement and pride about being a member of IPO are beneficial to my role as VP of Marketing.

Perhaps the most important quality that I bring to IPO though is my drive and dedication to the group

and my desire to be an integral part of IPO. I want to see IPO grow both in membership and in

recognition and I am very excited to share the ideas that I have to make that happen.

Sarah Nyhoff

Major: Accounting.

Year: Junior

Semesters in IPO: 2

I believe that I am the best candidate for the marketing position because I have seen first hand that IPO

can help students with understanding financials. I am eager to invite more people into the club in any

way necessary. There isn't a need for a great knowledge of finance before entering IPO. Rather it is a

fun environment to meet people and learn more about finance in a more down to earth way than just in

class. I want to share this with others in order to bring them to IPO. I have worked with recruiting

members to clubs before and know that it isn't the easiest thing. However, since I have my mind to it, I

know that the club can expand. I feel my qualifications for the position are key. I will take it upon

myself to gather the necessary information, make recruiting flyers, and use other recruitment tools. I am

excited about the opportunity.

Web Manager

Nenad Ciric

Standing: Sophomore

Major: Accounting and Finance

Semesters in IPO: 2

I've been with IPO for 1 year, and also on e-board for one semester- I am the current VP of Information

Technology.

With IPO, I traveled to R.I.S.E Conference in Dayton, OH and was also involved with Junior

Achievement -volunteering at Sibley elementary.

My computer skills include proficiency in Word, Access, Excel, web page development and also

programming in Visual Basic.

I believe I would be a good fit for this position since I've shown great interest in this club & investing

and proved that have a lot of Laker spirit in me- I was able to maintain high GPA while being an e-board

member and successfully performing my duties within IPO and also excelling on GVSU water polo

team. Since I’m only a sophomore and the youngest officer of IPO I know that I still have much to

contribute to our organization in the following years.

Portfolio Managers

Max Frantz (see V.P. of Operations)

Patrick Miller

Double Major in Finance and Accounting

3 Semesters (2 full and 2 partial)

I am qualified for the position of Portfolio Manager because I follow the market, I have taken FIN 321

investments, will be taking FIN 428 securities analysis and portfolio management in the fall. I will

become a CFA and am sitting for the CFA level 1 in June 2009. Securities analysis is what I want to do

professionally and I believe that working for Seidman IPO will be an invaluable experience. I can only

offer my best effort, honest opinion and high goal congruence with the long-term strategic path of the

organization.

Steve Coxford

Majors: Finance and Economics

Year: Junior

Semesters in IPO: Two

I believe I will be a good fit as an IPO portfolio manager because my experience in IPO has

given me a good handle and familiarity with the way we like to manage our portfolio and the type of

stocks we like to consider as part of our portfolio. Although I will be graduating in December and thus

only able to serve one semester as a portfolio manager, I will have a lighter academic work load

allowing me to devote ample time to the PM position. As a finance and economics major, I am

constantly made aware of changes in the market and other economic events which could play a role in

the management of our portfolio. Personally, I look forward to the benefits I would gain from further

experience with the market and stock valuation and would enjoy the challenge of being a portfolio

manager for IPO.

Todd Callis

Major: Finance

Minor: Marketing

Semesters in IPO: 2

As some of you may or may not know my name is Todd, and I am a non-traditional student. Before

coming to Grand Valley I was in the Army for 3 years with the 82nd Airborne, one of which spent

overseas. I’m currently a junior with a major in finance and a minor in marketing. I’ve been a member

of IPO for 2 semesters now and I’m looking forward to a couple more.

I believe that I am a good candidate to assist in the management of our portfolio not only because I

can assess and analyze securities, but also because of my deep interest in finance. And the fact that I

hate to see us lose to, or even tie with, the S & P doesn’t hurt too much either. The managers before me

have done a tremendous job and I’d like to see that tradition carried on.

Charles Ragauss

Majors: Int. Business, Finance

Minor: French

Junior

2nd semester in IPO

I am applying for the PM position. I have held and managed my own portfolio since my freshman year

at GVSU, as well as worked with my bank on an IRA. I thoroughly enjoy stock picking and analysis and

check out the market and new stocks on a daily basis... often several times a day. I am mid way through

my finance major, and have already taken courses on investments an will be taking the security analysis

and portfolio management class this coming fall. I have no problem about doing research and enjoy

presenting, especially on financial issues. My goal is always to make a presentation informative but also

interesting, not so cut-and-dry. Please consider me for this position, I tend to be a little quite at meetings

, but I think you will find me a fun guy, as well as one who knows his stuff.
