Skype is a computer program that allows you to make free video and voice calls

INSTRUCTIONS

install Skype onto your PC. Next create a new user name and password
this will allow you to login to the Skype network
(3) Search for friends and family on Skype by clicking on the "add" button.
You can search via their Skype name,full name, e-maill address or by my
space IM name. Friends that are on-line appear at the top of the list with
a green button
(4) Purchase Skype credits to make calls to landlines and cell phones. With
Skype credits, you can also make international and long distance calls for
a fixed rate. You can buy Skype credits using a credit card or by pay pal.

(5) Call your friends by double clicking on their screen name. To hang up,
click on the red icon. If your friends are on-line, you can send SMS
messages or forward your message to their voicemail

SKYPE FEATURES-AND HOW TO USE THEM
SKYPE TO SKYPE CALLS
Are free and using Skype to call another person who also has Skype is totally
free-(2) In the list just find the person that you want to call, call by clicking on their
name. Anyone with symbols with dark colors indicate contact person is on Skype
and call is free, anyone with symbols that do not have dark colors indicate
contact person is not on Skype and call will cost you a little amount of money(3)
you will see their details in the main window, click the green call button.
You should hear ringing. If you don't hear the other person or they can't hear you,
click the call quality icon at the top of your call window.(4) To hang up, click the
red end button. (5) mute, click the icon to mute your microphone so that the other
person can't hear you. (6) hold, click on the icon to put the call on hold.
Remember, you need to have a computer, a headset and internet service to use
Skype service.

in a group (IM) all at once. Paste website addresses or news directly into
messages and see what others said when you were off-line. (1) Simply add
people from your contact list into the (IM) as needed once leaving a message
you will also be capable of editing your message, saving group (IM'S)
and even sending message alerts.
SEND FILES-RECEIVE FILES
Its the perfect solution when you need to share that fantastic shot of your son
blowing out his birthday candles or you need to send round minutes after a
meeting. No size limits. Quicker than sending an e-mail. Send files that are
big or small. How do I send files ? (1) There are several ways to start a file
transfer. (2) You can drag a file directly into a contact that is on-line. (3) You can
also right click on an on-line contact and select send file.
(4) In a multi chat you can send a file to all participants by clicking the send file
to call button. Skype then lets you select a file to send. The recipient will have to
accept the transfer in order for it to begin. You can only send files to contacts that
have authorized you. (4) To send multiple files at once, select the person you
want to send a file to and click send file button available within the instant
message typing box.
Select the files you want to send by holding down control as you select them. (5)
How do I receive a file ? When someone tries to send a file to you, you must
accept it by pressing the save as button. You will then be shown a window you
that files contain viruses and asking you to reconfirm receipt (you can choose to
not be shown this window again if you mark the box) then choose a location
to save your file.
SCREEN SHARING
Share your desktop with friends for free ! Sometimes trying to explain what you
are seeing on your screen to someone on a call doesn't work. With screen
sharing you can easily show exactly what you are looking at by simply calling
your Skype contact and sharing all or part of your desktop. How screen sharing
works.
(1) To share your screen simply call a contact and in the conversation window
click share/share your screen in the (IM) toolbar in (windows) or share screen (on
a mac). You can even select if you want to share your full screen or just a part of
your screen. The person you are sharing your screen with can see your screen in
full screen mode, and best of all, you can continue talking via Skype while you
are still sharing your screen.
SMS (TEXT MESSAGING)
Sending a text message directly from Skype is perfect when you want to quickly
reach a family member, friend or colleague. You can even group a bunch of
people together and send the same text message with just on simple keystroke.
Its easy and fast. The cost of each text message depends on where in the world
you're sending it to (but not where you're sending it from), however, its just 09c
per minute to most places, but there's a big list of rates to destinations world-
wide.
(1) How do I send SMS to my contacts ? To send an SMS to one of your
contacts, (a) select the contact, and click their mobile or home tab (according to
the number you wish to send an SMS to). Alternatively, right click on the contact
and select send SMS message. (b) In the text box at the bottom of the
conversation window, type your message, then click the send SMS button. The
status of the SMS is displayed next to the message. When its been delivered, it
will read "SMS delivered-Note" If the send SMS message option is grayed out,
this most likely is because the contact does not have an SMS enabled number
(usually a mobile number) saved against their profile.
You can add a mobile number to the contact-just press the add a telephone
number button. (2) To send an SMS to a number you haven't saved as a contact,
(a) click the cell phone tab, (b) Choose the country from the drop down tab, type
in the number and click the SMS button. (c) In the text box at the bottom of the
screen, type your message, then click the send SMS button. The status of the
SMS is displayed next to the message. When its been delivered, it will read
"SMS delivered".
