Each year, Influenza (flu) causes major health complications. According to the
New Mexico Department of Health, the flu hospitalizes about 200,000 people and
is responsible for nearly 36,000 deaths in the US each year. Many of these
complications can be avoided by simply obtaining a flu vaccine.
MountainView Regional Medical Center is helping to ensure the health of our
community and is committed to preventing the spread of flu, by offering a free
drive-up flu clinic, Saturday, November 1, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at MountainView, 4311
E. Lohman Ave.
Shots at the clinic will be provided while supplies last and are only available for
individuals over the age of 18. Participants will be required to sign a consent form
before shots are administered and simply have to remain in their vehicles in
order to receive their shot. If you have questions regarding the flu vaccine,
please contact your primary care provider.
“We are proud to offer free flu shots to our community,” says Terri Ginther,
infection control nurse at MountainView. “We strongly encourage everyone to get
a flu shot. The flu can lead to serious health problems, especially among the
elderly and people with chronic diseases”.
Participants wishing to obtain a flu shot are being asked to drive east on Lohman
Ave., towards MountainView and remain in the right lane of the road, to allow
access for individuals visiting the hospitals and physician practices. For more
