Sears In Your Community Grants Program
2010
Sears Canada is Canadian 4-H Council’s corporate partner, committed to helping youth in rural communities across the country
access enriching educational experiences. The Sears Young Futures™ 4-H Club grant program supports organizations that
provide after-school programs that allow youth to have fun while developing leadership skills, citizenship, and life skills in a
positive and safe environment. This grant program will support five types of funding requests: 1) new programs, 2)
enhancement of existing programs, 3) the development of existing programs in a new location (s), 4) sustaining existing
programs, or 5) support for ongoing educational workshops related to projects (ex. public speaking, showmanship, judging,
animal care, grooming skills, etc.)
Eligible Applicants
Any Canadian 4-H club that are registered and in good standing with the Provincial 4-H Agencies are eligible to apply. Joint
applications from more than one 4-H Club are welcomed. Canadian 4-H Associations, District 4-H Councils and Regional 4-H
Councils are also eligible to apply.
Available Funding
Approximately $30,000 will be available for program grants. Each 4-H club or organization is eligible to receive up to a
maximum of $1,000. Awards will be base on merit and recommendation of the Adjudication Committee.
Exclusions
This grant will not support:
programs and or projects that benefit one individual or private group
reimbursement for an activity that has already taken place
capital projects / capital expenditures (i.e. equipment, machinery, buildings and refurbishment costs, etc.)
one time events (other than ongoing educational workshops related to projects)
Grant funds awarded may not be used for program registration fees (i.e. conferences, seminars, etc.), provincial membership
fees, travel expenditures, administrative fees, salaries or leader training/development.
Duration
Programs must commence and be completed December 1, 2010 – November 30, 2011.
All grantees are required to submit an evaluation report of their program within 60 days of completing the program. This report
should include photos, news clippings (where they exist) and a brief narrative report on what was done and who was involved.
A financial report must be provided as well.

the online application process.
Application Deadline
Applications must be received by the Canadian 4-H Council no later than 12:00 midnight EST on Friday, October 22, 2010.
Canadian 4-H Council does not assume responsibility for postal delays, misrouting, or computer errors. It is the applicant’s
sole responsibility to confirm receipt.
Proposed Budget
Please attach as part of your application a detailed budget for the proposed program. Describe the type and amounts of
expected income and expected expenditures for this program. Include in-kind contributions – such as donated supplies,
volunteer labour/time, materials, etc.
