A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE
DALLAS, TEXAS, TO AMEND RESOLUTION NUMBER 072408.13
THAT ORDERED A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON
NOVEMBER 4, 2008 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR
FOR THE UNEXPIRED TERM AND ORDERING A JOINT ELECTION
WITH DENTON COUNTY ELECTIONS ADMINISTRATION;
PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND POSTING OF NOTICE;
PROVIDING FOR EARLY VOTING; PROVIDING FOR THE
APPOINTMENT OF ELECTIONS ADMINISTRATORS AND JUDGES;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council herein determines that it shall call a special
election to elect a Mayor for the unexpired term on November 4, 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to conduct a joint election with the Denton
County Elections Administration on November 4, 2008; Now, Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE
DALLAS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That an election is hereby ordered to be held on Tuesday,
November 4, 2008, for the purpose of electing a Mayor to fill the unexpired term on the
Lake Dallas City Council.
SECTION 2. That the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to
publish and/or post, in the time and manner prescribed by law, all notices required to be
so published and/or posted in connection with the conduct of the election.
SECTION 3. That the Denton County Elections Administration will hold the
Presidential Election concurrently with the special City election for Mayor on Tuesday,
November 4, 2008. A copy of the published notice that contains the name of the
newspaper and the date of publication shall be retained as a record of such notice, and the
person posting the notice shall make a record of the time of posting, starting date, and the
place of posting, which shall be the bulletin board used to post notice of City Council
meetings.
SECTION 6. That the voting hours for Election Day on November 4, 2008, will
be from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Lake Dallas City Hall, 212 Main Street, Lake
Dallas, Texas 75065. Early voting shall be held at the main polling place on the
following dates and times:
October 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 2008 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
October 25, 2008 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

October 26, 2008 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
October 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31, 2008 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Don Alexander and Phyllis Hanson-Taylor are hereby appointed to serve as Judges and
Hazel Byers as Alternate Judge, respectively, of the elections. These election officers are
also appointed as the early voting ballot board for processing early voting ballots. The
early voting clerk shall be the Don Alexander, Denton County Elections Administrator.
SECTION 7. This Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its
passage and it is accordingly so resolved.
DULY PASSED by the City Council of the City of Lake Dallas, Texas, on the
28th day of August 2008.
