JOB TITLE: Head of Major Donor Development

INTRODUCTION TO THE PRINCE’S TRUST:
The Prince’s Trust is the UK’s leading youth charity offering 14 – 30 year olds
opportunities to develop confidence, learn new skills, get into work and start
businesses. The Prince’s Trust targets people who are unemployed or facing barriers in
life.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To grow income from the private sector through maximising support from high net
worth individuals across all business sectors, but particularly within the financial
services community.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR STAFF: 3+
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITY: Income of c. £2m +
HEALTH & SAFETY/RISK: relating to any events held (Events team)
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) To deliver a personal, annual income target of £500k+ in the form of donations
from high net worth individuals
2) To ensure the exemplary stewardship of key high net worth individual donors, in
particular those from within the financial services industry, growing income over
long time periods – including leading hedge fund managers, private equity, other
related financial-sector industries as well as general Major Donors.
3) To develop The Trust’s expertise and networks within the financial services
community, but providing a particular focus on high net worth individuals within
the investment banking, hedge fund and private equity communities and their
philanthropic goals and ambitions.
4) To line manage three major donor managers covering the following initiatives:
Financial Services, British Asian, the East and South East and any other initiatives
which come up.
5) To manage The Trust’s ‘Invest in Futures’ committee and support the development
of the Invest in Futures annual event
6) To support the Senior Head of Major Donor Development with the management of
other major donor accounts as required
7) To provide support to other teams where the influence of a major donor
relationship can be of assistance, for example where a donor is a board director of
a corporate supporter or a Trustee of a Trust fund supporter
8) To ensure supporter data is collected and managed to maximum potential and in
line with the Data Protection Act.
9) Any other duties within competence as required.
CONTEXT OF WORK:
The Prince’s Trust currently raises £40m annually in order to fund its work helping
change around 44,000 young lives in the UK each year. This income is raised by a
central team of fundraisers based in the national headquarters at Park Square East,
London, and by a set of distributed teams across The Trust’s 12 delivery centres - nine
English regions, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The national fundraising department at Park Square East is comprised of six distinct
functions: Public Sector, Events, Business Development, Major Donor Development,
Corporate Partnerships and Individual Giving.
