Our Background
The Business Angel Partnership is a joint initiative between Enterprise Ireland, InterTrade Ireland and the Irish Business and Innovation Centres. It is managed by Dublin Business Innovation Centre Limited as part of its ongoing support to start-up and developing enterprises. To get this process started we will request some initial detail from you in order to better understand the type of business that you are interested in. This detail is used to match your requirements to appropriate companies. We also agree a brief profile with you. This profile is only sent to companies when you decide that you would like to meet up with them. The Business Angel Partnership service is available to both individual investors and groups of investors.
The Business Angel Partnership and ...the Advisor The Business Angel Partnership and ...the Company
As a Registered Company with the Business Angel Partnership you will increase your access to private equity. • Initially you submit your business plan along with a completed application form. This is a short summary of your business, giving details of the investment opportunity and profiling the type of investor you are interested in. We then assess your business plan. Once satisfied that it will stand up to scrutiny we match your requirements against the investment criteria and skills and experience details held for our investors. Where we see an immediate ‘match’ we contact the investor directly with details of your company and the investment opportunity. Details of your company are maintained on our website for a minimum of 90 days. We also set up additional opportunities for you to meet investors by hosting seminars on topics of mutual interest. As a Registered Advisor you enjoy the same benefits as Registered Investors and Registered Companies, with the same access to the services described earlier.
If your interest is in seeing investment opportunities for your clients then:
• We will post or e-mail details of investment opportunities directly to your firm. Alternatively you can register clients individually and we will post or e-mail details to them directly. • Any client that you individually register with us can have their own passwordprotected access to the investor section of our website.

If your interest is in raising funds for your client companies then:
• You submit an application form and business plan for each client company. • We then agree an initial summary of the business with you - prior to undertaking our matching activity.

Raising private finance takes time, with a lot of discussion and negotiation required before an actual cash investment takes place. It also involves a legal process including due diligence undertaken by the investor and the signing of shareholders’ agreements. You need to be prepared to put the time and resources required into this process before you start fundraising. Your own business advisor will be the best person to assist you in preparing for this process.
You choose whether you want us to deal directly with your clients or whether you want communications routed through your firm. In all cases we will keep you fully advised of progress.
Making a Match …the Process
The Business Angel Partnership works on a confidential registration basis. All investors, companies and advisors pre-register and provide us with specific information and assurances. Investors and advisors have immediate access to ambitious companies with growth potential. These investment opportunities come from our immediate sponsors, from our partners and from other sources. Companies know that details of their particular investment opportunity will be seen by people who are actively looking to invest in private companies. These investors bring business experience in addition to the financial resources that they may invest.

Confidentiality is paramount given the nature of the services offered by the Business Angel Partnership. We are committed to maintaining your privacy and confidentiality and will not disclose your details – except as obligated by law.
Investors and Advisors: How the matching process works:
• Investors are contacted directly when we identify a particularly suitable match. • Investors and advisors initially see a brief 8-10 line outline of the business and the investment opportunity. • If interested, they can access a more detailed summary giving key information about the business and the investment opportunity. • Requests for additional information and specific questions are forwarded to companies. • Details are also available on our website for a minimum period of 90 days. Personal details, contact details and details of investment preferences are only collected to allow us successfully provide a service to you. These details remain confidential at all times. During the initial registration process we agree a brief background profile containing the detail that you wish released. This background profile is only released to companies when you give your permission.
Companies:
Relevant personal details, contact details and investment details contained in your application form are available to investors through the password-protected section of our website or when details from your application form are sent to investors or advisors. All other information regarding your business remains confidential at all times and will not be released without your specific permission.
Contact details and e-mail details:
The Business Angel Partnership arranges and facilitates initial meetings between investors, companies and advisors. We continue to monitor and facilitate exchanges between all the parties involved. If requested we are available to get involved at any stage. The Business Angel Partnership also creates further opportunities for companies, investors and advisors to network by hosting seminars on topics of related interest.
The Business Angel Partnership does not advertise or sell investment opportunities on its own behalf and will not provide any form of investment advice to investors, companies and/or advisors. The Business Angel Partnership will offer no advice as to the merits of entering into a transaction of any nature including any advice as to the merits of acquiring or subscribing for shares in any companies. No information, whether oral or in writing, which may be provided by the Business Angel Partnership will constitute a public offer or an invitation to subscribe for, purchase or otherwise acquire any shares, debentures or securities of companies for the purposes of the Companies Acts 1963 to 2005.
