Legislation signed by former Governor Whitman provides for the issuance of free hunting and fishing licenses for resident disabled
veterans.
For the purposes of this program, the legislation defines Disabled Veterans as:
"...any resident of the State who has been honorably discharged or released under honorable circumstances from active service in any
branch of the Armed Forces of the United States and who has been declared by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, or its
successor, to have a service-connected disability of any degree..."
Disabled veterans may apply for licenses in person at the offices listed below or via mail to the address below (send copies of
disability documents and original previous hunting licenses when applying through the mail).
Applicants must provide:
1. proof of service - connected disability by producing a letter of certification from the Veterans
Administration, a wallet sized card from the VA indicating service - connected disability or
a photocopy of your monthly disability check which indicates service - connected disability.
2. proof of honorable discharge (DD-214 or similar document).
3. proof of residency by showing driver's license, hunting license, etc.
4. provide a hunter education course (archery, shotgun or rifle) certificate
applicable for the license applied for or previously issued resident archery
firearm license or rifle permit. Resident licenses from other states issued
to hunters prior to establishing residency in NJ will be accepted if the
license indicates which weapon type it was valid for. Non-resident
licenses from other states are not acceptable.
5. completed "Supplemental License Application (Child Support)" or copy of
on-line certification (see www.njfishandwildlife.com for on-line certification).

RESIDENT FISHING Must be a resident of New Jersey for at least six months $22.50
Issued to residents 65 to 69 years old. Residents over 70 may fish
SENIOR FISHING with proof of age. $12.50
No license required for children under 16 years old.
Required, in addition to the regular fishing license, of every resident 16
RESIDENT TROUT STAMP and older, except for those over 70 who may fish with proof of age, who $10.50
shall take or attempt to take trout from any fresh waters of the state.
A resident firearm hunting license from a previous year or a Hunter
RESIDENT FIREARM Education Certificate must be submitted with application. Copies will $27.50
not be accepted except for applicant's copy issued with license.
SENIOR FIREARM Issued to residents 65 years or older. Same requirements apply as
with the resident firearm license. $15.50
PHEASANT & QUAIL STAMP Required in addition to hunting license while hunting pheasant or
quail on designated wildlife management areas. $40.00
A resident bow & arrow hunting license from a previous year or a Hunter
RESIDENT BOW & ARROW Education Certificate must be submitted with application. Copies will $31.50
not be accepted except for applicant's original copy issued with license.
SENIOR Issued to residents 65 years or older. Same requirements apply as with the
BOW & ARROW resident bow & arrow license. $16.50
A resident trapping license of a previous year or a Hunter Education
RESIDENT TRAPPING Certificate must be submitted with application. Copies will not be $32.50
accepted except for applicant's copy issued with license.
A combination license for fishing, firearm, and bow & arrow hunting.
Stamps must be purchased if needed. A resident license of a previous
RESIDENT ALL year or a Hunter Education Certificate must be submitted with $72.25
AROUND SPORTSMAN application for both firearm and bow & arrow. Copies will not be
accepted except for applicant's original copy issued with license.
RESIDENT WATERFOWL Required in addition to hunting license while hunting waterfowl.
