JERMAINE CUNNINGHAM
• Most memorable moment in his athletic career was making the game-winning sack against his high school’s

JOHN CURTIS
• Had a torn meniscus repaired the day after the Orange and Blue Game and a week later an infection in the left
knee surfaced. After a month of medication and two months of rehab, Curtis was back on the field for practice
in the 2006 fall.
TORREY DAVIS
• Weighed 380 pounds as a middle school student. High school coach Sean Callahan saw his potential as an
outstanding athlete when he saw him dunk a basketball one day. Lost 100 pounds and became one of Florida’s
top high school players in 2006.
CARLOS DUNLAP
• Has a wingspan of 84 inches (7 feet)
• Filled an unlikely role in high school as a senior in addition to his defensive duties: kick returner. Against
Summerville, Dunlap fielded the opening kickoff and went untouched to the end zone -- 95 yards away.
LORENZO EDWARDS
• Met fellow Gator freshman Jaye Howard at camp when he was 11 or 12 years old. They have kept in contact
ever since.
JAVIER ESTOPINAN

CORNELIUS INGRAM
• Named the “Face of Florida Football” by head coach Urban Meyer for his leadership skills, service to the team
and game-changing ability.
• After giving up basketball to concentrate on football and battling local hometown pressure, Ingram was set to
transfer. When Coach Meyer learned of his intentions, he called Vernell Brown, who was also a local guy that
did not start until he was a senior, and could relate to Ingram. Brown and Ingram chatted for two hours, with
Ingram deciding to remain a Gator after the talk.
• Compared his hands and natural ability to catch the football to former Ohio State and NFL great Cris Carter by
head coach Urban Meyer
• Played guard on Florida’s basketball team in 2004-05, but decided against returning for the 2005-06 season
because he wanted to focus on football

• Started playing football when he was six-years-old after his youth baseball coach encouraged him to take up the

• Recorded four interceptions, 95 yards rushing, 78 yards receiving, and an offensive touchdown in one game.
Dedicated his performance to his cousin who had passed away that same week.

• Born in Haiti
• Won two state championships in Florida Class 4A in the long jump and triple jump in 2005
• His mother brought him and his brother John from Haiti to Naples in 2002, leaving them to go to school as she
returned home. Three years later, John moved to New York and Wondy was left supporting himself. His high
school coach Buddy Quarles and his wife Marisa took Pierre-Louis into their home. After signing a National
Letter of Intent to play at Florida, had to return to Haiti in the summer of 2006 to obtain a new student visa for
college.

TERRON SANDERS
• Dropped from 330 pounds to 285 pounds, with his body fat falling from 30 % to 18%

• Overcame an asthma attack at age six and appendicitis at 12

JIM TARTT
• In high school, blocked the extra point against North Florida Christian with 14 seconds remaining in the game
to secure a 27-26 win.
• Most admires NFL Hall of Famer Dick Butkus for his passion for the game
• Was a member of the 4H Club from 1991-2004, showing pigs in local and county fairs.
• His cousin, Erica Bunch, played volleyball at Florida State from 1999-2003.
• Had arthroscopic shoulder surgery on April 17, 2006, to repair a season-ending injury that happened against
Mississippi State on Oct. 8, 2005.
• Has hosted several Florida players at his family’s farm in Sopchoppy, Fla., where his parents hold cookouts and
the players can go hunting or fishing.
• Along with fellow offensive lineman Phil Trautwein, Tartt got a National Champs tattoo on his arm after the big
game.
TIM TEBOW
• Christy Allen, Tebow's older sister, moved to South Asia in October of 2007 for a three-year stay to do
missionary work in one of the world's poorest countries
• At two prisons where he spoke this off season, Tebow says 195 inmates came forward and decided they wanted
to change their lives and "receive Jesus Christ."
• Had to change his throwing motion during the off-season to prevent shoulder pain. With the help of UF’s
Biomechanics and Motion Analysis Laboratory, the staff put reflective markers on his joints and used 11 digital
cameras, breaking down his delivery at 500 images per second.
• Has said publicly that he dreamed as a kid about playing in "The Swamp"
• Was invited on-stage to sing alongside Kenny Chesney at a concert in Gainesville in the summer of 2007.
Chesney later sent him a book from the tour with an autograph of the two them on stage.
• In order, he lists his priorities as faith, family, academics, football
• Tried to engage in a contact drill where players wrestle each other to the ground prior to the spring game, but
head coach Urban Meyer literally pulled him out by the back of his jersey; Tebow said he “just wanted a piece
of somebody”

summers before attending Florida doing missionary work in the Philippines himself. Father (Bob) had taken the
family there on a mission trip and they returned to Jacksonville when Tim was three.

• In Tebow's first year at Nease High School, he broke his right leg late in the first quarter with his team trailing
17-0 against St. Augustine Pedro Menendez. Unaware of the injury's severity, he played the rest of the way and
ran for a tying touchdown in the fourth quarter before Nease lost on a last-second field goal. X-rays after the
game revealed a jagged break.
