Cooper, Acting Commissioner New Jersey is an Equal Opportunity Employer w w w. s t a t e . n j . u s / p e r s o n n e l The New Jersey Enterprise-wide Learning Management System A Strategic and Transformative Technology for All of Your Employee Development Needs The New Jersey Enterprise-wide Learning Management System is an exciting breakthrough in the administration, delivery and tracking of online and instructor-led training and employee development activities. This user-friendly web-based technology will revolutionize the way your agency administers and tracks employee development needs and the way you access learning. NJ ELMS will benefit employees, managers, and human resource administrators alike. What is a Learning Management System (LMS)? An LMS is a state-of-the-art, web-based tool that allows organizations to create, administer, deliver, track, and monitor all types of employee development activities with ease and flexibility. This tool affords organizations the opportunity to link organizational objectives and strategies to specific employee development initiatives. An LMS is comprised of many components that make administering training and learning fast, easy and effective in a cost-efficient manner. The State of New Jersey has purchased an LMS that we have affectionately named NJ ELMS (the New Jersey Enterprise-wide Learning Management System). The NJ ELMS platform provides: ♦ Web-based registration, tracking and reporting of learning activities, ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ including instructor-led classroom training, e-learning, and live synchronous online events Electronic tracking and development of course materials for in-class training Scheduling, location, vendor, and resource management tools A robust searchable online catalog Test- and survey-creation and delivery tools Individual learning management plans – each participant can create a personalizeddevelopment plan and track their progress Easy-to-use report generation to enable students to view their own records and agencies to view entire department records related to employee development Individual employee learning "prescriptions" With these amazing features, NJ ELMS will radically transform the way your agency performs employee development activities. What's in it for the Learner? Have you wanted to go to a training course, but just haven't had the time to make the trip? If you've ever faced this challenge, you're not alone. E-learning, available through NJ ELMS, offers a solution with ondemand learning and short, interactive courses that give you only what you need, just when you need it. Most of the online courses are less than two hours long. Longer programs are broken into short segments – and if you're interrupted while taking the course, you can bookmark your page, and return to it later. Keep Track of Your Investment NJ ELMS' dynamic reporting capabilities will allow you to track and manage your training records and get a full transcript of all of the training courses you've taken throughout your career. This documentation is powerful in showing your investment in and commitment to learning. Moreover, it is extremely valuable as you apply for college credits, promotions and new positions. Easily Manage In-Class and OnLine Learning An LMS allows an organization to easily develop, manage and deliver all of their learning activities. By using the system's learning path and course management features, organizational objectives and strategies can be linked to skill development plans. If your organization needs a fast and efficient way to educate staff on the latest software, brush up their customer service skills, or be brought up-to-date on key mandates, an LMS is the most efficient and cost-effective way to roll out new learning. NJ ELMS will also help you: ♦ Develop and improve your ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ occupational skills Boost your professional knowledge Take advantage of dynamic reporting capabilities Pinpoint the job skills you need to advance your career Increase job satisfaction Convenient Access to Training Do you have the knowledge and skills you need to succeed? NJ ELMS provides assessment and evaluation tools to determine your training and development needs. Its library of courses can help you correct deficiencies and fill the gaps in your learning. Working in partnership with your supervisor, you can develop an action plan to reach your career goals through online or classroom training. You won't have to wait for the next scheduled instructor-led class to take the program you need. Online training through NJ ELMS will always be available. Your class will never be cancelled due to inclement weather or low enrollment. Think you might miss the interaction of classroom learning? NJ ELMS has that covered, too. You will be able to interact with peers online or just request to enroll in one of the many in-class training opportunities that will continue to be available at HRDI.
