11 TO CONGRATULATE BUNYAN M. CAVE, PROGRAM
12 MANAGER OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA BUDGET &
13 CONTROL BOARD’S DIVISION OF STATE INFORMATION
14 TECHNOLOGY, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS
15 RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR THIRTY YEARS
16 OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE STATE OF SOUTH
17 CAROLINA, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR MUCH
18 HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HIS FUTURE
19 ENDEAVORS.

21 Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the South Carolina General
22 Assembly recognizes individuals who give tirelessly of themselves
23 as dedicated public servants; and
24
25 Whereas, Bunyan M. Cave, retiring program manager of the South
26 Carolina Budget & Control Board’s Division of State Information
27 Technology, stands among their number as one much admired for
28 his thirty years of distinguished service to the citizens of South
29 Carolina; and
30
31 Whereas, beginning his extensive career in State government in
32 1979, he served first as a purchasing assistant for the South
33 Carolina Budget & Control Board’s Division of General Services.
34 Then, in 1984 Mr. Cave was selected as State Printing Officer for
35 the Materials Management Office within the board’s Division of
36 General Services. As State Printing Officer, he chaired the
37 Materials Management Print Committee, which was charged with
38 writing a manual to govern all State printing contracts; and
39
40 Whereas, later, he was asked by Governor David Beasley to serve
41 on the Governor’s Printing Committee and was instrumental in the
42 consolidation of State publishing and printing facilities; and

2 Whereas, in 2000, Mr. Cave was tapped to serve as executive
3 assistant to the director of governmental policy for the board’s
4 Division of the State Chief Information Officer. In this capacity, he
5 used his knowledge of the State Legislature to assist the division
6 director with writing policy and legislation for the division; and
7
8 Whereas, in 2004, he made his final move within the board in
9 becoming program manager of the Division of State Information
10 Technology, in which position he served as a customer advocate
11 for local governments and State agencies; and
12
13 Whereas, affectionately known as BM to his colleagues and
14 friends, Mr. Cave believes in committed involvement with his
15 community. As part of that involvement, he serves as chairman of
16 the board of trustees for Connie Maxwell Children’s Home,
17 president of the board of trustees for the Jesse Powers Evangelistic
18 Association, board member of South Carolina Government
19 Management Information Sciences, and member of the South
20 Carolina Independent Athletic Association and Red Bank Baptist
21 Church. Now, therefore,

23 Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives
24 concurring:

26 That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this
27 resolution, congratulate Bunyan M. Cave, program manager of the
28 South Carolina Budget & Control Board’s Division of State
29 Information Technology, upon the occasion of his retirement,
30 commend him for thirty years of dedicated service to the State of
31 South Carolina, and extend best wishes for much happiness and
32 fulfillment in all his future endeavors.

34 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to
35 Bunyan M. Cave.
