We are always looking for ways to improve the TripAdvisor
experience for business owners, so we’re making some changes that
add an additional layer of security for our community. All registered
business owners on TripAdvisor, both new and existing, will need to
complete a new process to verify their identity and affiliation with
their business. This involves a few easy steps and will only need to
be completed once for each registered individual.
WHy IS TRIPADVISOR ImPlEmEnTInG THIS
nEW VERIfIcATIOn PROcESS?
This new requirement will help us prevent fraud and further protect
the site’s integrity for both the millions who rely on TripAdvisor for
valuable travel advice and the businesses that market themselves
through our site.
WHAT DOES THIS mEAn fOR mE?
Regardless of when you registered on TripAdvisor, you will need to
take these simple steps to verify your affiliation with your business.
This process is quick and straightforward. Once you’ve read and
agreed to our Terms and conditions and your identity has been
confirmed, you can continue using all the resources available to you
through your management center.
That’s it! There will be no further change to your TripAdvisor
experience other than a more secure environment for all.

HOW DO I cOmPlETE THE nEW REGISTRATIOn PROcESS?
It’s simple. you can do so in one of two ways, which
we explain below.
When you sign in to your management
center for the first time after this change
is made, you will be prompted to complete
this new process before you can proceed
to your tools as usual. you will first see a
message on screen stating that these new

If yOU cHOOSE TO USE A cREDIT cARD:
The card you provide is for authorization purposes only. A $1 hold will be
placed on the card in order for us to confirm its validity and your identity,
but we will never make any actual charge. Gathering this information from
all business owners allows us to be confident that the more than 1 million
listings on TripAdvisor continue to be accurate and trustworthy.
Please note that the card you use should bear your name, not that of a boss
or colleague. you will be asked to provide the following information regarding
the card:
• your country (country in
which the card was issued)
• Type of card (Visa,
American Express, etc.)
• credit card number
• cardholder name
• Expiration date
• Security code from the
back of the card

If yOU DOn’T HAVE A cREDIT cARD OR cHOOSE TO VERIfy
yOUR IDEnTITy THROUGH cUSTOmER SERVIcE:
When you choose the option to contact TripAdvisor, we will need you to
fax or e-mail us a piece of documentation that clearly links you with your
business. A message will appear with instructions on how to proceed,
including what type of document you can send. Documents must include
your name, the name and address of your business, and proof of a
financial connection to your business. These include a Property Tax
document, bill of Sale for the business, recent utility bill, or pay stub.
We will provide you, on-screen, with the contact information for our
support team if you need help.
Once we receive your documents we will carefully review them in order
to complete your registration. If we need further clarification on what you
sent, customer service will contact you. Otherwise, we will let you know
via an e-mail confirmation that your verification is complete.

DO I nEED TO cOmPlETE THIS nEW PROcESS?
Anyone who is registered on your account as an owner/manager must
complete this process for their individual login before they can regain
access to the management center. If you are the one managing the
billing relationship for your business listing, however, then we have your
information and you’re all set! We’ll only ask you to check the box that
authorizes that you are an authorized representative of your establishment,
and another agreeing to our Terms and conditions. Then you will be able
to continue to make use of your TripAdvisor tools.
