This work is inspired by natural and architectural
elements. I abstract forms from my photographs and
sketches that evolve and are evocative of interiors,
landscapes, cityscapes and aerial views.
Much of the work is mixed media on wood panel.
I use acrylic paint, charcoal, conté pencil, paper
as collage, and plaster. Some of my work is
created in wet plaster and color is painted into it.
This creates a depth that I scribe into or scrape
through to reveal the layer below. Some of the
work is acrylic alone, painted in transparent veils
of color that may reveal the panel surface.
The defined division of space that I create
represents time. The paintings hold and recall
representations of place.
