Board Meeting Minutes

ATTENDANCE Present: Jim Jones, Stan Crawford, Brian Well, Ken Kempke, Dave Culp,
Dave Leix, Ryan Ogrizovich
Meeting called order at 10:18 AM
REPORTS
President’s Report Nothing new to add, Jim Jones brought the meeting to order. Jim discussed
various committee reports, as listed below

Motion/Second to accept the November and December Treasurer’s Reports –

OLD BUSINESS
We have decided to keep the Budget Analysis on the board meeting

agenda and minutes as a reminder for each meeting to determine funds
available for spending, thanks Dave C for the suggestion
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Dave Culp has been doing a great job in getting the newsletter out and
Communications:
he indicated it wouldn’t happen with out his assistant, Peg. The board
Newsletter & Website, Dave Culp agreed to give her a $50 gift card for her work. Motion, Jim Jones
Second, Dave Leix – Passed. Dave also indicated that he talked with
(VP’s Responsibility) Matt at ASSE HQ about posting the technical meeting presentation on
the local WI Chapter web site. Finally, we discussed the need to post
all old minutes on the web page, Ross can forward to Dave to ensure
Matt posts them.

Professional Development / CSP, We were informed that the ASP/CSP books are currently loaned out

Job Line, Kemp Shobe Jim Jones stated a lot of jobs are being posted on the website.
Govt. Affairs, Ken Kempke Ken has been doing a good job on sending out the e-mail blasts on the
government affairs being generated from ASSE HQ.
Sheila not at the meeting, hence no report from her. Dave Leix has

sent all information to her for contacting them to determine meeting
schedules.
Bylaws, Peter Mark Thanks goes out to Peter Marx for making the necessary changes to
the 2009 WI Chapter By-laws. They were officially accepted as
approved on 1/9/09 by Jim Weaver, Region V VP, they are now posted
on the web page. All this done for updates to meet current STARS
guidelines for ASSE HQ by 2/1/09.
Membership, Russ Fote Russ not in attendance, Jim Jones reported that the current
membership is at 269 and has been flat for quite some time.
No Report. No student breakfast this year, we assume WSC will ask
Student Section, Rick Barton
for volunteers for the WSC Safety Expo at the Kalahari, WI Dells.
Peter not here, no report. Dave L and Stan C will be attending the
House of Delegates, Peter Mark
ASSE congress in San Antonio and will/can go to the HOD meeting
prior to the event.
Will not be pursued at the present time. Maybe at a future time.
Foundation Activities, Brian Well
The brand new STARS tool effective for 2009. Dave L indicated he would go
STARS Dave Leix onto the system and begin updates in the next several months
Recreation Nicole Tubeszewski Nicole not here, no report. Group discussed upcoming events, maybe go to
the museum as part of the Titanic show going on.

How to Accomplish Safety Success - we had 63 people sign up
February 12, 2009 – Co-meeting with ESM, Lighthouse Safety, LLC. Topic
”The Latest and Greatest in Fall Protection”
March 3, 2009 – ASSE OSHA Update, Alverno College

Collins March 3, 2009 – OSHA update
April 9, 2009??? – UWW – Rick in contact with Nathan Yaun, UWW SSO -
Topic potential is “What to expect in your new career” - Panel Discussion.
May 12, 2009 – Office Ergonomics – Sheila has contacted Pat Seely, will need
to determine location and time
We discussed planning on being part of the expo again this year getting
WCS Safety Expo – Kalahari, WI
a booth for the 2 day event. Dave C indicated he would assist with

meeting on 2/12/09 for vote.
Newsletter, Website, Meeting
January newsletter has been posted.
Notice
Review of the last one completed in 2006. The review of the new
Survey Monkey 2008/2009
survey will be in January/February 2009 by Jim Jones. We assume this
will be sent out in March/April with a date wanted of Early May with the
review set for the June 2009 planning meeting. Jim to review all
questions and make updates. Dave C indicated that we may want to
take a few out to cut down on length of survey.
Stan Crawford wrote a case study posted in January 2009 newsletter,

Congratulations and he gets a $50 gift reward.
ASSE Alliance with Wisconsin OSHA Offices, The Milwaukee Building
Rigging Alliance
Trades, Wisconsin Power Plant Contractors – last meeting was
12/4/08, signed alliance. Next meeting is 1/29/09

left side. Dave L to get on site in next few months to complete
OSHA Safety Day ASSE/OSHA Safety Day 2009 – Next meeting is scheduled for 1/21/09
at 1:00 PM at the Jones Island Treatment Plant. Jim Jones sent out a
“Call for Speakers” in early January 2009, to date, we have received 8
selections on topics for conversation
