ensuring—
(A) that parents play an integral role in assisting their child’s learning
(B) that parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their children’s education at school
(C) that parents are full partners in their children’s education and are included, as appropriate, in

parents of participating children and make available the parental involvement plan to the local
community
Jointly conduct, with the involvement of parents, an annual evaluation of the content and
effectiveness of the school’s parental involvement policy

Information and Resource Centers (PIRC) in Florida, i.e., PIRC of Family Network on Disabilities
in Florida (FND) and PIRC at University of South Florida (USF)

State assessment in at least mathematics, language arts, and reading
Provide each parent timely notice when their child has been assigned or has been taught for four
(4) or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified within the meaning of the
term in section 200.56 of the Title I Final Regulations (67 Fed. Reg. 71710, December 2, 2002)
Provide each parent timely notice information regarding the professional qualifications of the

(Required) COMPACT: SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES FOR HIGH STUDENT ACADEMIC
ACHIEVEMENT 1118(d)
As a component of the school-level parental involvement policy/plan, each school shall jointly
develop, with parents for all children served under this part, a school-parent compact that outlines
how parents, the entire school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved student
academic achievement. The school-parent compact may be a separate document, but must still be
developed in collaboration with parents.
Triangle Elementary will:
1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning
environment that enables the participating children to meet Florida’s student academic
achievement standards as follows:
Triangle has implemented the Florida Continuous Improvement Model (FCIM), in which data
analysis determines classroom instruction. High student achievement is the focus of the
FCIM, through disaggregating data, goal setting with an action plan, and monitoring student
progress. In conjunction with the newly formed collaborative Professional Learning
Communities, Triangle’s Leadership Team has outlined and mapped instructional strategies
that are incorporated into the daily lesson plans. These strategies follow the Curriculum Maps
adopted by Lake County Schools. The instructional focus in our classrooms will be to
concentrate on our areas of concern: reading, math, writing and science. Specific attention
will be given to subgroups identified as not meeting Annual Yearly Progress requirements on
the 2008-2009 FCAT.
Through progress monitoring, Triangle will utilize frequent assessments in order to adjust and
maintain best instructional practices. The school will sustain learning with tutorial, enrichment,
remedial and maintenance activities. Triangle uses a school-wide progress monitoring
database and reviews results and achievements through a School Success Team which
meets once per month. The basis for reading assessment and progress monitoring will be the
F.A.I.R. test which will be given three times per year to all students with progress monitoring
tools implemented every 20 instructional days.
2. Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the
individual child’s academic achievement. Conferences will be held (at least annually):
Grades 3, 4 and 5 will hold a report card conference night on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The
report card conference night for grades K, 1 and 2 will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010.
Teachers will also be available for conferences before school, after school, and during their planning
time at the parent’s request.
3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Specifically, the school will
provide reports as follows:
During the 2009-2010 school year, progress reports will be provided to all parents on the following
dates: September 23, December 2, February 26, and May 10. Report cards will be provided to all
parents on the following dates: November 3, February 2, and April 19. Final report cards will be
mailed home after June 15, 2010.
4. Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with
parents as follows:
Teachers, administrators and specialists are available and willing to meet with parents before school,
after school, and during the teachers’ planning periods; if none of these opportunities are suitable for
the parents, efforts will be made to accommodate the family’s schedule. Parents wishing to meet with
the staff should contact the school by phone or by writing a note to the teacher. It is important for the
parent to provide a working phone number and other contact information for the appointment to be
scheduled.
5. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer in their children’s school and to participate in their
children’s class and observe classroom activities, as follows:
All parents are invited to become classroom volunteers. When a parent wishes to volunteer in the
classroom, a Lake County Schools volunteer application is provided and upon approval the parent is
invited to meet with the teacher and the Curriculum Resource Teacher to determine the best fit for
skills, interests and needs. Volunteer opportunities include classroom activities such as reading with
students, assisting with hands-on science experiences, and practicing math skills. In addition, there
are other activities available for volunteers such as helping with the choir and working in the media
center. In addition to working as approved volunteers, parents are always welcome to observe
classrooms subject to prior notice and teacher’s approval. Observations must be approved by the
teacher because there are rare instances (such as certain testing days) when an observation would
not be appropriate. Teachers should contact the front office or the teacher to schedule such
observations. One more way in which parents may participate in their child’s school day is to join their
children for lunch. Parents and children may sit in booths in the cafeteria or enjoy the outdoor pavilion
for family lunches.
Parents will support our children’s learning in the following ways:
1. Describe the ways in which parents will support their children’s learning, such as:
Monitoring attendance
Making sure that homework is completed
Monitoring amount of television children watches
Participating, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my children’s education
Promoting positive use of children’s extracurricular time
Staying informed about children’s education and communicating with the school by promptly
reading all notices from the school or the school district, either received by children or by mail,
and responding as appropriate
Serving, to the extent possible, on policy advisory groups, such as; serving as the Title I, Part A
parent representative on the school’s School Improvement Team, the Title I Policy Advisory
Committee, the District Wide Policy Advisory Council, the State Committee of Practitioners, the
School Support Team or other school advisory or policy groups
(Optional) Students will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve
Florida’s high standards in the following ways:
1. Describe the ways in which students will support their academic achievement, such as:
Do my homework every day and ask for help when I need to
Read at least 30 minutes every day outside of school time
Give to my parents or the adult who is responsible for my welfare all notices and information
received by me from my school every day
(Required) BUILDING CAPACITY FOR INVOLVEMENT 1118(e)
Triangle Elementary will take the following actions to:
1. Provide assistance to parents in understanding such topics as:
Florida’s academic content standards
Florida’s student academic achievement standards
Florida’s and local academic assessments including alternate assessments
The requirements of Title I, Part A
How to monitor their children’s progress
How to work with educators to improve the achievement of their children
