3. Specific problem to be addressed* (max 500 characters)
There will always be waste food and municipal waste, and using bioconversion technology keeps the
landfills from becoming full, while getting rid of garbage and providing an eco-friendly energy source.
There are many products that are possible using waste food and the available bioconversion
technology. Biodiesel, bioethanol, biogas, electricity, heat, and more are possible from waste food.
The second approach of the project idea is simplified composting facilities which lead to get fertiliser
for more productivity in agriculture sector.
Biofuels are the future of energy, and as such, more and more countries are turning to these fuels to
substitute the environmentally unfriendly fossil fuels. The Kyoto Protocol focused on reducing
harmful emissions for every country, but the focus needs to be on available solutions (applying for
CDM project and partially financing from CER sale). The world’s leading scientists are calling for it.
Biofuels offer many benefits including a better local economy, less air pollution, increased use of
renewable resources, cheaper energy and increased job positions to grow and process the necessary
crops. With all the benefits that biofuels offer, it’s no wonder that many countries are highly
supportive and are already producing them.
Today, there are approximately 120 plants in the EU producing up to 6,100,000 tonnes of biodiesel
annually. These plants are mainly located in Germany, Italy, Austria, France and Sweden. The project
aims to learn this rich experience and expand in the region.
Biofuel (mainly biodiesel) and fertilizers originated from the waste allow to have close circle for
agriculture and not depend on other economies and sectors of it which will ensure food security for
community which experience can be shared by other countries.
The following actions are planned:
developing biofuel production design, studies and adapted to suit local conditions and
requirements,
promoting new (now-how) and applicable technologies,
disseminating information between engineers, planners and educators, to establish
information sharing at local, regional and national level,
local (rural) area simplified composting facility design, guidelines, etc
designing and implementing a pilot demonstration project, and
promoting capacity building with NGO’s to diffuse the potentials of biofuel and composting
in various applications.
4. Main project activities planned* (max 750 characters)
Partnership kick-off meeting
Project’s administrative and financial co-ordination
Study material and design guidelines
Negotiations on Government’s support and co-operation
Promotion of technology by the organization of two workshops attended by decision-
makers, administrators and NGO’s
Promotion of biofuel technology by the organization of two scientific conference attended
by engineers, planners and educators
Implementation of a Pilot Demonstration Project
5. Expected outputs and results* (max 500 characters)
Bioduel production unit for agriculture sector will be established,
Education and Promotion material for these technologies will be developed,
Technical guidelines will be conducted,
Two Workshops and a Scientific Conference will be organised to diffuse and promote
Natural Systems Technological developments,
A Pilot Demonstration Project,
Simplified composting facilities for small rural and agricultural unit will be developed
Dependence on fossil fuel will be diminished,
Pre-project of CDM (Kyoto Protocol) will be developed.
6. Partnership* (max 250 characters; please describe the envisaged partnership, i.e. nature and
location of the partners and list the partners already involved in the project idea)
The project adopts a multi-dimensional, integrated approach and is therefore open to Local and
Regional Authorities, Public administration and State Agencies, NGO’s, Universities and Research
Institutes.
The partnership will of course have to be finalized according to the programme requirements in terms
of a well balanced geographic composition and allocation of tasks and financial resources.
7. Type of cross border project* (Please put an X in the appropriate box)
Integrated: Partners implement on their territory a part of the project activities X
Symmetrical: Partners implement similar activities in parallel
Simple: Implemented only, or mainly, in one country with a cross border impact
8. Additional information* (max 250 characters)
