The focus of 6th grade curriculum is on self-exploration and early-stage (general) career exploration. Students will be encouraged to reflect on their interests -
(what do I enjoy learning about/doing/thinking about?), aptitudes – (what am I good at?), and values – (what is important to me?). Students will also start
thinking about the world of work and the concept of careers – what kinds of jobs do you already know about? what do the people that you know think about
work? what are reasons for people to work? Students will explore the relationship between personal characteristics and identify behaviors, attitudes, and skills
that contribute to school success. Lastly, students will have a brief introduction to Wiscareers and will begin to create their e-Portfolio.

The focus of 7th grade curriculum is on developing career exploration skills and helping students learn to apply their career exploration skills on a personal level.
Students will be introduced to several different ways of gathering career information (e.g., on-line resources, personal interviews, etc.). Students will continue the
process of self-exploration, with a focus on the connection between self-exploration and career satisfaction. Students will also continue to investigate career
choices and will be encouraged to expand their knowledge of career options. Students will also have the chance to think more about their desired future lifestyle
and the role that work will play in shaping (and being shaped by) lifestyle choices. In addition, students will begin to examine the role that social and personal
events (e.g., employment trends, choices in geographic location, education attainment, etc., connections to family or choices around creating one’s own family,
etc.) can play in the personal career development process. Lastly, students will make additions to their e-Portfolio in order to document new developments in
        their career exploration process.
