Cease and Desist Letter -- Copyright
Infringement
This is a letter that informs the recipient that they
are infringing the sender’s copyright and requests
that the infringer immediately cease and desist from
such conduct. The letter lists actions that must be
taken by recipient within 5 business days of receipt.
In the event that the recipient fails to comply with
the request, the letter informs the recipient that the
sender will commence legal action without further
notice.

Dear Sir/Madam:
It has come to my attention that you are distributing, promoting, advertising, selling and
otherwise exploiting my copyright in and to certain ___________ [Instruction: Insert what

Copyright”).
I am the sole author of the Subject Copyright and accordingly am the sole owner of the
Subject Copyright. My ownership in the Subject Copyright is further evidenced by Copyright

which lists me as the sole claimant.
As the sole owner of the Subject Copyright, I have the exclusive right to distribute,
promote, advertise, sell and otherwise exploit the Subject Copyright. I have not, at any time,
issued a license to you or otherwise authorized you to use the Subject Copyright. Consequently,
your unauthorized exploitation of the Subject Copyright is in violation of my exclusive rights in
and to the Subject Copyright.
Accordingly, I hereby demand that, within five (5) business days from your receipt of this
letter, you and all other parties acting in concert with you in distributing, promoting, advertising,
selling and exploiting the Subject Copyright:
1. Cease and desist from any further distribution, promotion, advertisement, sale and
exploitation of the Subject Copyright;
2. Delete any and all copies you have made of the Subject Copyright;
3. Provide me a list of the names and contact information of all distributors and any
other parties that you have allowed to distribute the Subject Copyright; and

4. Confirm, in writing, that the foregoing actions have been taken.
Please be advised that if you fail to comply with the foregoing demands within the
specified time, I will immediately, and without further notice, pursue all of my legal and
equitable rights and remedies with respect to this matter, including without limitation, seeking
statutory damages.
Nothing contained herein or omitted herefrom shall be deemed to be an admission of any
fact or a waiver or relinquishment of any rights and/or remedies, in equity or at law, all of which
are expressly reserved.
