SUMMER TERM – NEWSLETTER No. 5
Dear Parents Friday 7 July 2011
What a wonderful day on Tuesday with Year 2 assembly of “Humpty Dumpty,
was he pushed or did he fall?” and two delightful Sports’ Day events.
We wish all our leavers every happiness and success at their new schools.
Thank you to FOSJH for the lovely photo cards for all the children.
Thank you to all parents for your support both in and out of school again this year
and, of course, for having such delightful children. The staff join me in wishing
you a very happy, relaxing and safe holiday. We look forward to welcoming
everyone back on Monday 5 September at 8.45 am (Early Morning Care from
8.00 am). Curriculum evenings are being held for Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year
2 on Thursday 15 September and Nursery on Thursday 22 September. Further
details will follow at the beginning of the new term.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE FIRST DAY- Kindergarten children will need to be delivered to their
classrooms and collect from there at the end of the day. Please use Kindergarten entrance to avoid
congestion on the main staircase. Year 1 & Year 2 - On the first two days can parents please take the girls
up to their classrooms when they arrive at 8.30 am. On the third day they will go into the playground.
Please collect from the classroom at 3.30 pm on the first day and then the following day the girls will be
dismissed from the pencil fence, which will be their usual routine.
SNACKS – From September snacks will be provided for Nursery and Kindergarten children. These will be
a variety of healthy fruit and vegetables. Year 1 and Year 2 will need to continue to bring their own from
home and we request that they are either a piece of cheese, fruit or vegetable. Raisins are also allowed.
SAINSBURY’S ACTIVE KIDS VOUCHERS - Many of you have recently been sending your Sainsbury’s
Active Kids Vouchers to School. The final number of vouchers counted was a huge 30,184! Well done to
everybody involved in counting them. The vouchers have been used to order some new play equipment
for Early Morning and After School Clubs, as well as some extra sports equipment for the PE Department.
We look forward to seeing you all having even more fun with the new equipment in September!
UNIFORM – please remember that when purchasing school shoes over the summer, in the interest of
safety, they should be flat and not slip-ons. Shoes and trainers with flashing lights are also not to be worn
in school. May I also remind you that earrings are not part of the school uniform. If your daughter is having
her ears pierced, may we request that this is done at the beginning of the summer holiday in order for ears
to have sufficient time to heal, as studs will not be allowed next term.
FOSJH – please send into school any unwanted uniform – all items are welcome. The Family Fun Day will
be held on Saturday 17 September from 10.00am to 12.00 noon. Come and join FOSJH and the Year 6
girls for a fun morning of games, stalls, cakes and refreshments.
NURSERY – How time flies – is this year really
over? Our picnic to QEGS was just perfect and
the children were so good. The ice cream man
was the best. They walked there and back with
happy chatter and we are sure they were all in
bed early! Sports Days was a great success
and the children showed everyone just how
good they are, how they never give up even
when they fall – a credit to everyone.
Have a good summer and many thanks for all your kind words and good wishes.
KINDERGARTEN – Last Thursday Kindergarten had a fantastic day at The Deep in Hull. Highlights of the
day included seeing two huge sword fish, the sharks and sting rays, travelling in the bubble lift and eating
sandwiches, which the children made themselves!! Sammy the seal told them why it is important to keep
the environment clean and he let the children explore a range of seaside games and books.
On Tuesday the Year 3 girls in Mrs Castle’s class
came to read stories they had written and
illustrated themselves. We heard tales about a
yellow polar bear in a polka dot dress, a pink
whale with long blonde hair and a blue kangaroo
who wore a bow tie and used a walking stick!
The strange creatures ate even stranger food!!
They really enjoyed listening to all of the stories.
Thank you girls.
YEAR 1 - The Year 1 team are very sad to being saying "goodbye" to Mrs Osbaldeston. She has been a
lovely colleague this year and the children have enjoyed having her as a fantastic teacher. This is what
some of the children have to say about her......
! " #
We wish her well with her new ventures and hope to see her popping back into school soon!
YEAR 2 Teachers would like to thank the
girls for a wonderful year culminating in a
fantastic production of “Humpty Dumpty,
was he pushed or did he fall?” We wish
the girls every success.
