C.A.R.E. South Coast—
The Center for Animal Rescue and
Education—is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to
ending the needless suffering and abandonment of animals
in the Massachusetts, South Coast region.
C.A.R.E. was formed by concerned community members to
provide sheltering, spay/neuter assistance, education and
referral resources.
Spay/Neuter Asistance
Each year an estimated 3-4 million pets are euthanized in
animal shelters due to lack of space. C.A.R.E. works to
assist families and individuals experiencing financial hardship
with low cost spay/neuter services
All animals in our sheltering program receive medical care,
vaccinations, feline leukemia testing and are spayed or
neutered before they are made available for adoption.
Sheltering and
Re-Homing Asistance
C.A.R.E. Provides temporary sheltering assistance and
re-homing services for homeless animals. As part of the
adoption program animals may be transferred to other nokill
shelters within our network, placed in foster homes or
remain in our shelter until a forever home is located.
C.A.R.E. works closely with local animal control agencies
as well as other animal welfare organizations and traditional
shelters in order to maximize resources and help the greatest
number of pets.
Education and Awareness
C.A.R.E. understands that only through education and
awareness will pet overpopulation, neglect and abuse end.
C.A.R.E. provides information and resources to the community
to assist with homeless animal situations.
The C.A.R.E. Kids campaign is a curriculum designed for
elementary students to promote responsible pet ownership
and the humane treatment of animals.
Sponsorship Program
The pet sponsorship program allows people to assist in
providing care for animals with special needs. This is a
wonderful way to make a difference in an animal’s life. We
invite individuals, families or organizations to sponsor a
special needs cat through a monthly or annual donation.
Sponsors receive histories, photos and periodic updates of
their chosen pet. This is a great gift for an animal lover!
A Sanctuary for Seniors
Located in Rochester, MA, C.A.R.E. operates a small
retirement home for senior pets located in an 18th century
farmhouse overlooking picturesque grounds. These lucky
pets live out their golden years in comfort.
The program is available to individuals who are interested in
making long-term financial plans for the care of their pets.
C.A.R.E. is an all volunteer non-profit 501(c)(3) organization
that depends solely on the generosity of the community.
