NOVEMBER MEETING AND MINUTES: Thursday, November 12th, 2009.
1. Ernie Kurmes and Al Hendricks reported on the recent AMPF reunion held in Albuquerque; very
few members from our chapter attended the reunion.
2. The student chapter will be hosting a holiday party and potluck for the December chapter
meeting. They have also been busy cutting and donating wood this fall.
3. Elections are currently taking place for Chair-Elect. Mike French will continue as secretary-
treasurer for another year.
4. SW Section Spring Meeting: The section has asked us to check into holding a joint meeting
with The Wildlife Society and The Fisheries Society, who have a meeting planned for early
February. Concern was raised over the shortness of time involved and whether the SAF
meeting would simply be “tacked on” to the other meeting. The officers met briefly and
decided that hosting the meeting is not an issue. Thus, our chapter will be hosting the SW
Spring Section Meeting in Flagstaff in the spring, but the decision about a joint meeting has
not yet been made.
5. Mike Chaveas, Deputy District Ranger on the Peaks and Mormon Lake Ranger Districts of the
Coconino National Forest, gave a presentation titled “US Forest Service International
Technical Assistance”.
Please take time take time to recruit a new SAF member or bring an existing member to the next
Chapter meeting. We’ll try hard to make both your experiences worthwhile!
