This is a very interesting item. The weapon is a CO2 powered paintball system that
shoots a .43 caliber either paint or rubber pellet. The velocity is very similar to our air
powered paintball guns at about 350 fps, per the makers catalog. Out of the box the gun
looks like a real M4 rifle. It has a detachable carry handle with rails for optics, a
collapsible stock and bayonet lug. The muzzle brake is painted bright orange and that is
really the only way to tell it’s not a real M4. The C02 canister takes 1 gram to fill it and
will last roughly 300 rounds. The gun isn’t all that accurate as the pellets "fly off". The
maker, www.asiapaintball.com , says that the rubber pellets could be used for riot
control but I don’t know how well these pellets are documented as being accurate and
have the company standing behind their use like similar other Less Lethal weaponry.
The magazine is very similar in appearance to an actual 30 rounder. The pellets are
loaded into small brass casings that are ejected after each firing. The magazine is
loaded by winding a spring and then inserting the loaded casings. The magazine holds
20 rounds and I can tell you that it takes longer to load it than it does to shoot it. This
model came with two magazine and I found that it’s easier to have them both loaded if
you’re doing any kind of training. The pellets and casings are available from the maker
and they are not unreasonable on pricing. The problems I have with this product is the
magazine design since it is kind of difficult to unload the magazine from the gun with out
losing 2 or 3 pellets, and the inaccuracy of the gun itself. However, for training only, this
is an excellent tool. It will even fire after the magazine is empty so it can be a useful tool
for sound diversion. I can recommend this for use as a training gun only and not as a
riot control weapon as there are better choices out there currently.
