Canned food drive
Teacher Letter
Dear Staff,
There are a few things I need to update you on, and some instructions about some upcoming
events.
th
First off Starting Monday December 4 we are starting our can food drive. Students will be
bringing in canned and bagged food to be given to 15 of our Orangeview families. You will be
nd
collecting them from your 2 period class only. ASB students will be picking up the cans in 2
th th
separate trips. The first pickup will be Friday December 8 during 5 period. The second trip will
th th
be Wednesday December 13 (6 period) during SSR. If you have any ASB student in your SSR
Class that day, we will need their help to collect cans. I will send them back to class hopefully by
the end of SSR with a pass. Here are few things to note.
If you place the cans by the door before our pickup, it will go much smoother and we will
not have to interrupt your class.
If you can please count the cans and put a piece of paper on top of your stack of cans
with a total. (don’t worry if you don’t we will count them for you)
If you have too many cans and need us to do a pick them up sooner then Friday, please
send me an email and we will come pick them up.
If you will not be in your room during either of those times and you have cans to be
picked up, please let me know and we will make special arrangements to pickup your
cans.
th
Second, we are having our winter dance on Thursday December 14 . We will be setting up the
th
gym Wednesday after school, Thursday before school and during 5 period. If you signed up for
dance duty and will not be there, please let me know in advanced.
The following teachers are signed up for the dance
Daily
th
Third, the elective fundraiser party is scheduled for Friday December 15 after school. We will
send out more information about that soon, but we will need some adult supervision for that party.
If you can help out, that would be great.
Thanks for all your help,
Ben Star
Announcement
Attention All Students,
The holiday season as we all know is a time for cheer and also a time for giving. Here at
Orangeview, we value every student and always help out those in need. Now as an Orangeview
student, here is your chance to give back to the community. Every year during the holiday season
here at Orangeview; we have a caned food drive. What we are asking you to do is to bring in
some non expired cans of food to help out some families in need. All of the food you bring in will
stay in our community and be given to approximately 15 Orangeview families. Along with the
cans, the teachers and staff get together and buy some other necessities and small gifts to give
to these families. Yes we are going to be having a contest this year, but that is not what this is all
about. We really want you to help out because you want to and not because of some reward. If
every student brings in only one can, that’s over 1,200 cans of food which will go along way for
these families in need. Now, besides the rewarding feeling of knowing you helped out some
families this holiday season, the class that brings in the most cans in will receive a special thank
you party during their second period class. The canned food drive will start next week on Tuesday
th th
the 5 and will end the following week on Wednesday the 13 . All cans will be turned in only to
nd
your 2 period teachers, so next week you should start bringing in the cans on Tuesday and
Thursday. Once again we appreciate you help and look forward to another successful canned
food drive.
Wednesday
Panthers it’s that time of year to share with those less fortunate then ourselves.
Every year at Orangeview we do a canned food drive. Students and staff bring in
canned food, then ASB collects them and distributes them to 15 Orangeview
families in need. In other words you will be helping out your friends and fellow
Orangeview panthers. We will be collecting canes and packaged foods in your
2nd period classes. Friday will be the first day that you can start to bring in food
and we will be collecting them through Wednesday, December 12th. Just to make
it a little more interesting we are making this a contest. The class that brings in
the most cans per students will win a donut party, but remember this is not about
winning a donut party, it’s about helping those who need it. Thanks for your
support and don’t forget to bring in your canned food on Friday.
Thursday
Panthers this is just a reminder that you can start bringing in your cans for our
Canned Food Drive tomorrow. The class with the most cans per student will win
a donut party. Remember it’s not about the contest; it’s about helping those in
need. When you go home tonight look through your cabinets and pantries and
see if can spare some non–expired canned food to help out those in need.
