Installing practical work “negotiation” (ABMP)

There are different programs:

you can negotiate via the network as a “buyer” or “seller”. These are the programs (icons):

 seller

 buyer

To actually run a program, double click on the icon.

Only double click on seller or buyer if you are sure that you want to negotiatie with someone

else, because then contact will be made with someone else, who is probably waiting to really

negotiate.

Exercise 1

Depending on the role that you will play during this round (as handed out during the lecture) click

on the icon seller or buyer. So, during this round you are a seller or a buyer. Wait until a

connection has been made with another computer.

Now perform the negotiation until you reach agreement with your opponent.

If necessary, note your remarks below.

Now close the program buyer or seller.

Moreover, there are more options in the directory “extras”:

buyman_selrep: Buyer bids itself, seller delegates bidding to an agent

buyrep_selman: Buyer delegates, seller bids itself

buyrep_selrep: Both buyer and seller delegate.

Exercise 2

Depending on the role that you play during this round (as handed out during the lecture), have this

role be performed now by a software agent. For example, if you were a seller during the previous

round, now let a software agent be the seller and play a buyer yourself.

Click on the corresponding icon. So:

If you are buyer and the agent is a seller, click on buyman_selrep.

If you are seller and the agent is a buyer, click on buyrep_selman.

Now again perform the negotiation until you reach agreement with the opponent.

Denote below the differences with the negotiation from exercise 1.

You can also play the role of buyer and seller at the same time.

Then there are different types of negotiation:

The buyer or seller can do the bidding by him- or herself, or the buyer or seller can have the

bidding be done by an agent, a representative. This can be done with the last option:

buyrep_selrep: both buyer and seller have an agent negotiating for them.

Exercise 3

Now have an agent negotiatie for both buyer and seller.

Now again perform the negotiation until you reach agreement with the opponent.

Denote below the differences with the negotiation from exercise 1 and 2.
