Web Application Development II is a direct extension of Web Application Development I, offering those
students who began developing an application last term the time, structure, and support to flesh out their
ideas (and code and database) into a working, "production-ready" site. Few additional topics will be
covered; rather, emphasis will be placed on becoming facile with the concepts presented last term. Most
of the on-site classes will be devoted to addressing specific problem scenarios being faced by the class
participants:
Class #1/May 7th: Design Concepts Overview/Refresher
Class #2/May 21st: Scenario #1 - the database and application structure of online discussions
forums
Class #3/June 4th: Scenario #2 - mailing list management?
Class #4/June 18th: Scenario #3
Class #5/July 9th: Scenario #4
Class #6/July 23rd: Working lab
Class #7/August 7th: Presentations/Quality Assurance Lab
Students will be expected to submit at the beginning of the term an outline of the application they'll be
working on, detailing the functionality they will include. The final, completed application -- with all
functionality in place, robust error checking, and some thought toward security -- will be the only graded
deliverable.
