PETITION
To the Minister for Health, Dr K Hames MLA
We the undersigned residents of the State of Western Australia, believing that the provision of private obstetric services
at Armadale Health Service continues a 25 year tradition of private health service in the area; that it relieves some of
the burden on the public system both materially and financially; that while providing sound care for mothers and babies
during the antenatal, childbirth and post natal periods, it also provides education for parents and empowers them to care
for their children confidently and gives a firm foundation for the rest of their childbearing/rearing years, and that it
provides for the right of choice of residents who choose to pay for private health insurance, respectfully request that the
provision of private obstetric services at Armadale be retained in a separate area from the public services, at the level at
which it is currently provided ie: antenatal education, antenatal clinic, Labour Wards, postnatal wards and nursery, and
further that these services be adequately resourced in relation to staffing, professional development and the
provision/replacement and maintenance of equipment in order to continue to provide the care to which our community
has been accustomed for the past 25 years.
And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray
