Second Learn about T will discuss ancient Greece and Rome, showing pictures, Paper mosaic
ancient Greece and examples of their art, way of life, history, etc. squares
Rome & their T will explain that Romans created mosaics Glue
mosaics. TSW select a pre-cut shape and design their mosaics Precut shapes

If time permits, students will design a constellation and
write a myth about the constellation. See Lynn Meadows
project below.

Third Learn about T will discuss ancient Greece and Rome, showing pictures, Aluminum foil
ancient Greece & examples of their art, way of life, history, etc. Coin pictures on
Vocabulary Rome & their T will discuss Roman and Greek currency, explaining how tag board
Relief currency. and why they made their coins, and showing pictures. Glue
Currency Make an ancient T will explain the project of making an ancient coin, show Scissors
Classical coin example and demonstrate how. Perm. Markers
S will choose a preprinted coin drawing or draw their own, Yarn
Ac,2e,3a6a,7a, glue the lines and glue yarn on the line, cover with
aluminum foil, and embellish with permanent markers.
TSW create a value for their coin and write a word

Roman culture problem. Work in pairs to solve each
other’s problem.
Fourth Learn about T will discuss ancient Greece and Rome, showing pictures, Red and black
ancient Greece & examples of their art, way of life, history, etc. construction paper
Vocabulary: Rome & their T will discuss their pottery, its importance, the different Black crayons
Motif pottery styles and subjects they chose, especially their Black markers
Geometric Design a vase, geometric designs. Scissors
Classical based on Greek & List and demonstrate a variety of geometric motifs, Vase templates
Roman motifs explain the project, and demonstrate.
1c,2dh,4ab,6a,7abc, S will trace a vase shape and decorate with a variety of
8abc,10b geometric motifs on red construction paper, cut out and
glue on black paper.
Read “If Clay Could Talk” to students. Student will write
a response to their art (tell about their pot, talking about
where it has been. If time permits, students will design a
constellation and write a myth about the constellation.

Fifth Learn about T will discuss ancient Greece and Rome, showing pictures, 12 x 18 paper
ancient Greece & and examples of their art, way of life, history, etc. Rulers
Vocab: Rome and their T will explain the 3 orders of architecture they created Water color paint
Architecture architecture and then explain the project. Black crayons
Doric Draw and paint 3 S will draw the 3 orders, outline in black crayon, and
Ionic orders of ancient paint with water colors.
Corinthian Architecture TSW write a rap or poem about what they have learned
Classical 1a,2a,5b,6abc,7c about Greek and Roman life. S will work independently in
journals about Greek and Roman culture
S will view interactive” brainpop” activity on Greek and
Roman culture

First Grade Students will work on a special art project to hang during their program.
Students will also assist in the making of their turkey tail costumes.
