Directions: Follow the directions to create a powerpoint slideshow on the Watts Riots
In this last unit, I want to review some of the different technology skills we learned. Powerpoint is a
useful tool that we will review today.
Assignment: Create a powerpoint that uses transitions, animations, pictures, and words about what
happened in the Watts Riots. We will add on to this project when we learn about the LA Riots next
class.

Change the Background: Format: Background
___1. Go to http://www.southcentralhistory.com. Go to the “Online Assignments” page and go toward
the bottom to get the pictures. Click on the pictures and then save the pictures.

___2. Open Powerpoint (the orange P)
___3. Start with the title page
Title: The Riots
Name: Your Name
___4. Change the background, add in animations, and a transition.
___5. Go to Insert: New Slide
___6. Slide 2 should have a title that says “How did the riots start”
___7. Go to Format: Slide Layout, and choose the layout with a picture and text.
___8. Double click the picture to add in a picture from the website. Add in text about how the riots
started.
___9. Add in background color, animations, and a transition.
___10. Repeat steps 5, 6, 7, and 8 for the other slides.

- Go to http://webmail.locke2.org. Make sure to put in your full email address and sign in.
- Go to compose mail.
o To: hotep4all@gmail.com
o Cc: leave blank
o Bcc: leave blank
o Subject: Midterm
- Go below where you would write the message. It should say “Attach:” and then have a box and the
word “Browse.” Hit Browse, find your powerpoint in Documents and select it. Then press “Add.”
Once you at the powerpint, click on “Send.”
