ASSEMBLYMEMBER, FIFTY-SECOND DISTRICT
ASSISTANT SPEAKER PRO TEMPORE
February 16, 2011
Please unite with me in support of a Healthy Vision Month initiative to be conducted
during the month of May, 2011. I am requesting Optometrists from our local area to
collaborate with Angels for Sight, Inc. to provide eye care to underserved/uninsured
citizens in our community. Each participating Optometrist is asked to see one patient a
week during Healthy Vision Month, providing services for a total of four patients. If
needed, the patient then has the opportunity to receive free glasses from Angels for Sight.
May 2011 will be the inaugural Healthy Vision Month program of Angels for Sight.
What an awesome opportunity to unite and provide a worthy and much needed service.
Angels for Sight, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit community-based eye clinic, is dedicated and
committed to providing free vision screenings, eye examinations and glasses to
uninsured, underserved and low-income individuals, who otherwise would not have
access to such services. There are more than a million residents in the south Los
Angeles/Compton area. Nearly 50% of all adults and 30% of all patients in this area are
uninsured and cannot afford eye care services. To date, Angels for Sight has provided
vision screening to more than 5,000 persons and provided full eye examinations and
glasses to approximately 750 persons at no cost.
Your generous donation of care through your charitable resources will assist us in
sponsoring a successful project. DO NOT DELAY! Please click on the link below and
be the first to join our award winning team of volunteers who are committed to this
worthy cause.
Thank you in advance for partnering with me, Angels for Sight, Inc., and other
Optometrists to “make a difference in our community”.
Sincerely,
