Attendance Policy
Marching Band and Concert Band Performances
First unexcused absence – two (2) letter grade penalty
Second unexcused absence – two (2) additional letter grades penalty
(This penalty will apply to the student’s current 9 weeks grade)
As a member of the Howland High School Band, your attendance is required
at functions and performances where the band appears. Excused absences,
such as religious observations, family weddings, etc. should be cleared with
the Band Directors in advance of the band activity. Please submit requests
for excused absences in writing, two weeks prior. Family emergencies are
to be verified as soon as possible when the student returns to band. Jobs are
not an excused absence. For excused absences, students will be required to
make up the missed work, and this can include a playing assignment, or
written work. Unexcused absences from functions and/or performances may
prohibit student participation in trips and other special activities. All
outstanding fees must be paid before students will be permitted to take part
in any special activities or trips.
