On Thursday 13/8/09 our year 3/4 boys Trent Barrett Rugby League team travelled to Temora
for the C.R.L organised carnival.
Under the guidance of Mr Keith Fixter our boys had prepared for a hard day of football. The
team played three games during the day, winning two games by large margins against Junee
North and Temora West, with all the boys playing a hand in the team’s success. The try scoring
was shared around amongst the players with Josh Boak and Will McMartin each scoring three
However it was when the boys came up against a brilliant and tough Saint Anne’s number one
team that they displayed just how much they enjoyed playing Rugby League. After being
stunned both in defence and attack by their opponents the boys lifted and played their hearts out
in defence. Although beaten, the boys earned praise from their opponents and onlookers and
eventually finished 2nd in their pool.
Thankyou to all the parents for supporting their children in playing a sport and also to those
parents that were able to help with transport on the day. A special thankyou to Mr Keith Fixter
for giving up his time to train the boys in the lead up to the carnival and for the great coaching
job on the day that ensured all boys had quality playing time throughout the day.
The boys are to be congratulated for their behaviour and effort throughout the day.
It’s Children’s Book Week and the theme this year is:
All of our classes will visit the town library where they will participate in organised
activities as well as be able to see their entries in the Book Week competition.
Our children will continue to go on safari in our own library where they have been
doing related work learning about wild animals, their habitats, the world etc.
Then on FRIDAY we will be having a dress-up day where children can come
dressed as a wild animal or as someone going ON SAFARI!
No weapons, please.
We will have a parade commencing at 10.30, followed by a cake stall at recess
(cakes provided by Yr 6 children as a fundraiser for end of year activities).
SEE YOU ALL THERE!
3/4M have been working very hard in Creative Arts to
compile an A-Z book of Safari Animals. Amazing
animals were found like the Xray fish and Galago (night
monkey). This book was entered in the Bland Shire
Library BookWeek Poster Competition.
As part of our stage one HSIE program 1/2 students have been investigating the roles and responsibilities of workers
in our community. As part of this unit, students were given the opportunity to visit a variety of community
organisations, such as the Police, Fire and Ambulance stations.
The aim of this local excursion was to further develop students knowledge and understanding of the different
products and services available within our community, and how they help to meet the needs and wants of community
We all had a wonderful day with many students leaving with the hope of being an emergency service worker when
they grow up. We would like to thank Peter Cane, Constable Amanda Gaynor and Roger Moore for such a valuable
