PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COURSE PROPOSAL PROCEDURES
Effective: 2005-2006
It is imperative that the following procedures are followed when submitting a course proposal: 1. Course proposal must be approved by the Professional Learning Department/Committee prior to implementing the course. 2. Person submitting the course proposal should send a copy to Penny O. Freeman in the Professional Learning Department along with a list of participants’ names if available. 3. An approved course proposal will be assigned a course number and posted onto MyPDC for online registration. Participants must complete a professional learning leave form prior to online registration. The Importance of Completing the Professional Learning Leave Form • Provides approval by the principal for participant to attend training. • Aligns goals/objectives with professional learning training with SIP/SACS, or system plan. • Allows for replication or redelivery of training, or completion of an On the Job Assessment by principals. • Allows for Professional Learning Department to track system-wide events for auditing purposes and completion of consolidated application; as well as a tool used when writing the Title II – Part A Comprehensive Plan. 4. A course proposal packet will be returned to sender/instructor including the following forms: a. b. c. d. e. f. g. h. 5. It is the instructor’s responsibility to assure that each participant completes all required forms in order to earn credit for the course. 6. Once all necessary forms have been signed and completed, please return all documents, including course proposal in original course folder to Professional Learning Department for transcript and recording purposes. 7. Additional Information: In order to earn PLUs for training, participants must also submit the following documents to the Professional Learning Department: • Sign-in sheet for each training session at your site • Agenda • Minutes: Description / documentation of completed tasks during training session For further detailed instructions, please contact Penny O.
