Passaic County Superior Court Announces Rotation of Judges

Passaic Vicinage Assignment Judge Robert J. Passero has announced the following

judicial reassignments. These assignments, which are part of the General Assignment

Order for Court Year 2007-2008, will become effective on Sept. 1, 2007: Judge Ralph L.

Deluccia, Judge Raymond A. Reddin and Judge Garry S. Rothstadt will move to the Civil

Division of the Passaic Vicinage. Judge Philip H. Mizzone will move to the Criminal

Division and Judge George F. Rhode Jr. and Judge Ronald B. Sokalski will move to the

Family Division.

In addition to the rotation of judges within the vicinage, the Passaic County courts also

welcome back Judge Joseph A. Falcone to the court’s Criminal Division. Judge Falcone

is returning to Passaic after serving two years in the Morris County Superior Court.

“While I very much enjoyed my assignment in Morris County, I am thrilled to be

returning home,” said Judge Falcone.

Judge Falcone’s legal career includes an appointment by Gov. Brendan T. Byrne on

Aug.18, 1980 to Passaic County prosecutor. This year marks the 27th anniversary of that

appointment.

Article VI, Section 7 of the New Jersey Constitution states, “The Chief Justice of the

Supreme Court shall assign Judges of the Superior Court to the Divisions and Parts of the

Superior Court, and may from time to time transfer Judges from one assignment to

another, as need appears.” Made in consultation with assignment judges and the

administrative director of the courts, judicial assignments are based on considerations

such as caseloads across divisions and vicinages, judicial experience and professional

development.
