24 hours a day, click on www.hillcrest-lodge.com To find the current lake view, click on webcam

 Our members, Frank & Kris Briski, have been recognized by Oconto County Land and Water

Resource Management for 2009 shoreline restoration. Frank & Kris restored over 101 running

feet of shoreline. This included charting over 400 individual plants and shrubs.

Corn Roast: Our fundraiser is set for Saturday, August 7; 11:00 am till closing. Now more than ever we

need your help. If you have items to donate for spin raffle prizes, please drop them off the day of the

corn roast or give them to any board member. Buy the raffle tickets and donate your time to help at the

corn roast. Raffle tickets are available for sale from any TFA Board member or at local businesses.

We are looking for help with set up Friday, take down Sunday, sell spin wheel tickets, children’s games,

dunk tank or dice game. Work shifts will be 11-2:30 and 2:30-pm–6 pm. Please contact Dan Coopman

(715-276-6157) ddcoop@granitewave.com to volunteer.

Townsendflowageassociation.com - We now have our own web-site. Thanks to the help of Bev Bodart

we are up and running. Check us out.

Hats, shirts and stuff: At the Corn Roast we will have t-shirts for sale for a special price of $10.00 and

decals for $1.00. (cash and carry) We will also be placing another clothing order from our new clothing

supplier in August. Order forms were mailed in March and are available on our web site.

Boater Safety: Six instructors have been trained and we have trained 20 students in the first session

beginning in May. The second safety training will be held in August. The DNR has recognized the TFA as

we have organized the first boater safety class in Oconto County.

Weed Harvesting will take place per DNR guidelines. These guidelines state that no mechanical

harvesting will be permitted within 30 feet of any shore or dock. (Individuals can manually remove

vegetation next to their property). Also, it is important to remember the limitations of our harvesting

equipment. We need at least 24 inches of water to even attempt to operate the harvester without

becoming stuck. With water levels being so low again this year, this is become a problem in some areas.

Dues and Membership: Membership applications were sent to 347 property owners. Less than half of

the property owners have joined the association. We urge everyone to talk to their neighbors about

joining the TFA. Remember our organization is 100% volunteer and we do not receive any funds from

the tax roll to support our efforts to preserve our body of water.

Eurasian Milfoil: In May Cason and Associates inspected the flowage for Eurasian Milfoil. We have

been successful in controlling the milfoil in the channel and no milfoil was present in the Sunset Bay

area. New batches of milfoil have been found in the main body of the flowage and have been treated.

Exotic species can easily hitchhike via boats, trailers, fishing equipment. Live wells, live bait buckets, etc.

The easiest way for the boating public to prevent the spread of exotic species is to check all these areas

every time they leave or enter a waterway and remove all unwanted or suspect material.

Law Changes

The new Wisconsin Law states that a slow-no-wake speed is required in all areas with 100 feet of any

shoreline. Major areas are marked with slow-no-wake buoys but not all affected areas are marked. Also

a new law that will go into effect sometime this summer requires that all children aged 12 and under are

required to b e wearing a life jacket anytime they are in a boat.
