Subject: Media Invitation on the Mayoral Imbizo
Media invitation to the Mayoral Imbizo and site visit to projects.
The Office of the Mayor hereby wishes to invite you to the Mayoral Imbizo
scheduled to take place on Sunday 22 June 2008.
The Mayoral Imbizo is an interactive governance and unmediated communication
to enable the municipality and government departments to better understand
people’s needs while finding better ways these needs can best be met.
In essence, the Mayoral Imbizo is a unique form of participatory democracy at a
community level, ensuring high levels of transparency, accountability, openness,
direct consultation and communication with the citizenry in improving their lives
for the better.
The Imbizo will see thousands of local residents, ratepayers and stakeholders
interacting with the Council and Management of Bela – Bela Local Municipality
on service delivery issues relating mainly to 2008/09 Integrated Development
Plan and Budget, progress and challenges noted during the previous financial
year.
The Mayor Henrietta Ledwaba, Councilors, Municipal Manager Sam Bambo and
Heads of Department will be in attendance.
The Imbizo is scheduled to take place follows:

Please note that the Imbizo will be preceded by sites visit and launch of a
housing project in Radium, Road resealing project in CBD, unveiling of an

upgraded public Park as well as a Road Paving projects in Extention 6, Bela Bela
township.
Note that media will be provided with a common transportation from the Old
Municipal Building to the project sites and Bela-Bela Stadium (Moloto Street),
where the Imbizo will be held.
Interested media are requested to confirm their attendance by submitting their
names and media houses they represent to matome@belabela.co.za before or
on 20 June 2008.
